I think your conflating rhetoric used by extremists with the actual scientific message, they like to use word like "could" or "may" or extremes in the range for headlines when in fact the scientific models predict a wide range. For instance AOC stated that:

'The world is going to end in 12 years if we don't address climate change'

when in fact the scientific message was closer to:

'If we do not lower emissions in 12 years to a manageable levels the cost of climate change mitigation will be much larger'

Every Oil and Gas company in the world believes that AGW is real because it effects their bottom line, they've spent 10's of millions on the research themselves.

The science is not nearly as settled as people want to believe. The hockey stick chart which the guy above invoked has been debunked.

At worst, global warming will mean humans migrate north a bit. Which is fine. There is plenty of uninhabited land in the north of Asia, Russia and Canada. More than enough room for everyone.

We believe that climate change risks warrant action and it’s going to take all of us — business, governments and consumers — to make meaningful progress.

That's like a cigarette company telling smokers to cut down on smoking and government to tax the consumers. It's a dodge.
