Social Greta Thunberg Megathread

No, it's not 15 countries, it's 15 activists along with Greta suing 5 nations for violating the U.N. treaty Convention on the Rights of the Child. These are all people under 18 from the nations in the lawsuit- Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, and Turkey- each with specific complaints that they blame their nation on.

Two of the largest carbon dioxide emitters, China and the United States, are not named, as they did not ratify the part of the treaty that allows children to file a suit against the countries signed onto the protocol.

For all you "muh China" people.

using children to further your political goals is pathetic and damages not only our country but the children as well. You all should be ashamed and you know who you are.

Just watched the video of this girl yelling at the climate event. She claims that she had her childhood destroyed. What an embarrassment.

Well, in the sense that if she believes the world is ending as we know it and that is causing her extreme grief then maybe it is. Not the actual climate though. Just the stress of believing such a thing and obsessing over it. That is probably traumatic and not something you'd wish on anyone, let alone a child.

I saw a teenager in my town a few times yelling to random people on the street about how the banks are taking over the world (which I am kinda sympathetic to), but he was so strung out about it that you could tell it was driving him off the deep end.

I think her parents have her all whacked out. That is probably why her childhood was wrecked.

I am glad that my parents didn't try to ruin my childhood back in the 80's when the "Hole in the Ozone" scare came out and the media told everyone that they were going to get skin cancer because chics were using too much hair spray.

80's Big Hair chics were hot.

You're the 2nd poster I've seen in this thread post about the Ozone hole issue without realising that the reason the warnings never came to fruition was because countries got together to act on the issue and ban the CFCs causing the issue.

A lot of people think Y2K was a hoax too but don't realize that businesses that would have been effected collectively spent Billions of dollars to fix the issues preemptively.

Why do people not know this?

The "Hole" in the Ozone was a media frenzy spook story. The "Hole" hasn't improved or gotten worse in the last 30 years and wasn't even caused by humans.

Wasn't New York supposed to be underwater a few years ago? Whatever happened to that?

The hole stopped getting worse because the chemicals were banned 25 years ago, the hole actually started to shrink until China said fuck it and started using them again. Now the world is too chickenshit to do anything about China.

Most of the doomsday projection timelines are towards the end of this century. A lot of polar ice has already begun to melt I don't think anyone really has a good idea about when shit is going to happen or how bad it will be, maybe it won't be that bad but it's definitely something to take into consideration.

when i was a kid i was building a homemade lego set of the Back To The Future 3 Train with my christmas train going around the tree and my lego delorian.

I probably decapitated multiple barbies that day because im #team Ken.

i even owned a swiss army knife.

Climate change isnt destroying the planet, these people are.
