Social Greta Thunberg Megathread

i hope greta addresses acid rain and the hole in the ozone lair. I was warned about this as a kid and yet the dumb government has done nothing to stop it
I think that's what kills me the most about the "climate change" movement. As a child who went to school in the 90's, I remember life was all about those things. We did an entire spring "concert" about it. I remember that one song literally had a chorus of "We're killing the ozone(killing the ozone!)", there was also a song about CFC's, and another about styrofoam that I vaguely remember.

I also remember watching shows about the polar icecaps being completely melted by right now, and seeing over half the USA being underwater. They even made a made for tv movie about it with Craig T Nelson called "The Fire Next Time" in 1993. The exact synopsis is "Set in 2017, the plot focuses on a family who, after a series of fires begins to break out due to global warming, must struggle to survive a natural disaster that devastates the earth.".

I agree that we should take care of the earth, but forgive me for not buying in to the hysteria...It's been the narrative my entire life and I haven't seen any Armageddon or anything even close yet.

"You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words and yet I'm one of the lucky ones. People are suffering. People are dying."

It's almost as if our pollution output and need for energy consumption is directly tied to our population growth, and that a larger population demands greater energy consumption.

People are dying Greta, and the only solution is the same solution there's ever been throughout human history to deal with human population growth: advances in technology. Because if we don't increase our energy consumption, and don't go with the cheapest sources of energy available, then people -- largely the poorest of people in Asia and Africa -- will starve and die today.

It's weird because these people making these arguments but don't seem to understand that if the planet's capacity to support human life decreases, some people will necessarily die off (mostly the sick and elderly) until that new balance is found and then it will stabilize.

It's such basic shit. That's how it's supposed to work.

This is only an issue if you want to break the laws of nature and find a cheat to allow us all to consume massive amounts of energy while also reproducing like rabbits until we overload the sustem while seeing no negative consequences...

That's not how it works.

UN has a huge conference “hey guys should we have scientists show real data and facts”

“Nah get that 11 year old activist , this will make everyone know this is serious!!!”

They like to say that children are involved in this climate shit because their future is at stake when the truth is they're the only ones buying what they're selling because they don't know any better. The rest of us have heard this bullshit for years and are wise to the con.

Here is what happens when scientists put data and facts in front of Republicans.

This is the Chair of the Senate Environment Committee, James Inhofe.

She can squawk all she likes. I'm all for freedom of speech, unlike her area of the world.

When it comes to planetary climate change, per capita means nothing.

The US is doing their part by actually decreasing emissions, as opposed to the the most egregious offenders increasing them even if their massive populations skew the "per capita" ratio.

Indeed. Keep Drilling. :D

Good for her for trying to make a difference.

Having her talk to kids is a great idea, giving her a national platform where she preaches to adults is laughable. I wish her all the best, truly, but I find her brand of guilt trip activism hard to swallow from those with decades of life experiences, nevermind from a kid who's never contributed to the successes which made her activism possible. Globetrotting endeavours leave quite a carbon footprint after all.

It's funny how one minute she's this intelligent, brave, strong young woman who everyone must listen to. But then has soon there is any negativity about her or her message, she becomes this vulnerable little girls with loads of mental problems who you can't criticise or you're a bully and terrible person for picking on an autistic kid. You can't have it both ways. But then that's the whole point of using someone like her, it's a classic emotional and moral manipulation tactic.

As one of my friends put it, this is the age where kids find reading/writing cursive to be "too difficult", but we are going to let them dictate global policy?

Remember how Nick Sandman was treated?

It is so funny, she meets and mingle with all the politicians, yet they are the ones calling the shots regarding our environmental future.

Some have called her a prophet like the prophets in the Holy Bible.

Most prophets in the Holy Bible didn’t mingle with the elite and they were often persecuted, while she is on every photoshoot together with the powers that be.

That's not how it works.

But That that is the "endless growth" economic model that globalist and the people they have brainwashed spew.

I'm a fan of Tucker Carlson right now, but of course he has been a Republican shill in the past, and still somewhat is.. I think when he strays off course, which he wants to, he kind of gets redirected back to.the prime directive. Anyways, he has brainless establishment conservative shill types come in and talk about how endless growth is really possible. How we shouldn't worry. It's an area where we differ.

She seems to have more knowledge about it then all the deniers combined so why not speak out, it's her planet, we are just renting it and leaving a big big mess.

It is par for the course.

Remember the ambassador’s daughter that testified about how Sodom-He-Insane’s troops killed Kuwaiti babies?

How the drowned boy “Alan” was used to manipulate Europeans to accept the massive influx of immigrants.

Now Greta gets air time instead of scientists and real environmentalists.
