I think the insanity comes from the fact that it was his pro debut. This wasn't his tenth fight or something, and his fight IQ, footwork and maturity was just off the charts. Compare his standup with Dillon Danis' standup, who did karate as a kid and has been doing martial arts his whole life. His capacity for making massive improvements in small times is right up there with a young Jones, maybe even more stunning considering he had no martial arts background.

Gotta book him against a low-level guy. I know Heavyweight isn't exactly "deep," but still. Put him against a guy you just signed that's new to the pro's just like he is or at least coming off a few losses like Hu Yaozong (0-1 UFC, 3-1 MMA)

Yep, it is. Some guys are good fighters but not good athletes. Some guys are good athletes but not good fighters. We have very few that have both.

Hardy in his first pro fight KO's his opponent in 57 seconds. Admittedly impressive.

Fedor has much more wear and tear on his body though. He did Sambo and military service his entire life year round. Mitrione just did football which is tough but there is a long off season.
