Greatest of All Time update

Anderson Silva will always be GOAT. once Fedor fought top comp he lost... then he went on to beat lower comp... yeah... A.Sila Fo Life

HW division was the toughest division? Oh, so that's why Coleman and Fujita were top 10.

I'm sorry that you did not know about mma in that era but yes it is fact that Prides HW division was considered by most the best division in MMA during Fedors prime. Only Prides lhw division was arguably in the discussion with it.

Fedor, nice to see him being fully appreciated again, his legacy will be the greatest for a long time IMO, prime Fedor was amazing

Oh and just a word of advice. You don't want people to start naming all the UFC MW fighters who made top 10 during Andersons reign as the list gets real ugly real fast.

Most ignorant thing I have ever read on sherdog, and that is saying something.

Yup, people aren't so blinded by propaganda now that Silva got KO'd by a rookie and Jones should have lost his last fight.

Guys like Schilt, Herring, Randleman, Goodridge, Hunt, Sylvia, Coleman and Arlovski - they WERE the top comp at the time and Fedor beat them all. Add to that one decisive win over prime Cro Cop, two decisive wins over prime Big Nog and a 28-fight undefeated streak and you've got the current GOAT.

Yeah, he came to the US late in his career and beat Sylvia, Arlovski and Rogers then lost to Werdum, Hendo and Bigfoot. That gave him a 32-4 record but it didn't take away from his epic streak. It wasn't the first time he'd fought top competition, he just finally lost a few fights.
Since then, he's beaten Monson, Ishii and Rizzo - all tough guys who would have been hellbent on getting a W over the almighty Fedor. He schooled Monson and just about killed Ishii and Rizzo. Would prime Fedor beat Cain Velasquez? Well, MMA has come a long way and the fighters are much more skilfull, but that sure as hell ain't no lock - far from it.

Having said that, if Anderson beats Weidman then wins his next one or two fights, it's extremely close.

I assume it was the toughest div since everyone cut weight to avoid it. Or why else would they cut weight? It aint fun.

Oh god CuePee, your arguments are so old and rehashed. It's embarrassing how much you still try.

I love this argument. It's so irrelevant it's funny. So every fighter below HW was scared of the division so they cut weight.

I'm gonna go with Fedor but Connor McGregor is right up there.

:D

why else would you ACTIVELY cut weight ?????

they might not be scared, but they are looking for an ADVANTAGE

it takes a lot more time, energy and focus to cut than not to cut:redface:

i would say Fedor for now.
he has the longest reign before he start losing, and he only lost KO by Dan Henderson but he still owned Dan Henderson before the KO.

his 10 years undefeated speak for itself.

Silva is only 8 years undefeated.
GSP undefeated in 6 years.
Jones undefeated in 5 years.

I think Fedor is still the GOAT.
we'll see later if they caan replace Fedor.
i am sure Jones will replace Fedor soon.
if Silva beat Weidman again i am sure he will replace Fedor, and i don't think GS the GOAT anyway, guy that always got bruises and decision his opponent and never finish fight lol.

Then explain to me why they put their bodies trough the misery of cutting weight? Its easy to put redface smileys and say something is irrelevant. I can guarantee that you will not come up with a good reason. Almost every fighter says that the weight cut is hardest part of fighting, but according to you they do it just for fun.

well it is a valid argument. People would not cut weight if they thought they could compete with the hw's. Why cut weight when you could win at your current weight of say 230? I would favor cain and jds over most lhw's
