I don't think any champ has had that many title defenses in ANY weight class. Especially consecutively, actually I can't think of one that has that many successful title defenses PERIOD let alone consecutively. Maybe JCC?? Don't know

Supposedly Chavez has something like 35 and Louis 25.

If you ask this question a year from now the answer will be Andre Arlovski. Ok I'm kidding.
I would have to go with Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Ali.

prime jones jr(Don't hate, the man demolished top boxers at their primes) or ray robinson.

boston haaaad core says marciano.
I like that pick, it's a good one.

Joe Louis I do believe it was HBO that had a special about this. Boxing commentators, trainers and journalists all got one vote a piece. Joe Louis was considered the top HW of all time and the top boxer of all time.

Rocky Marciano Only HW champion to ever go undefeated.

A boxer that never gets enough credit. Billy Conn. He was a LHW that cleared out his division and stepped up to face Joe Louis who was in his prime. He lost to Joe by KO in the 13 round cause he was still trying to win by KO. Conn dominated Louis for 12 rounds! Nobody else had ever done that. The only lose Louis had at that time was to Max Schmeling and that was a real battle.

marciano, or willy pep, jack johnson, max baer, there's tons of good boxers, too hard too list who would be considered "the best", carmine basillio, tony zale, vinny paz*, jack dempsey, list goes on and on....

*= hometown fav.

I'm surprised more people havn't said Sugar Ray Robinson. I think he was the best ever.

ray robinson no question. at heavyweight ali/foreman/tyson(prime) all beat marciano handily, mike and george ko him. an undefeated record does not mean they are the greatest. i could knock out 40 bums and retire and say im the best ever.

we dont even have tapes of srr in his prime. and ali never fought in his prime god knows what that did to him as a fighter and to come back and have your most historic fights after that....amazing.

joe louis better than marciano too...joe louis is my number 2 heavy sry i think ali's chin holds up against louis.

This is grossly inaccurate.
