Greatest boxer ever?

Always plenty of jokers in here, some intentionally being funny...but the best ones are the ones who are funny when they're trying their damndest to be serious.

Pretty Boy Floyd Money Mayweather Jr is the best Pound-For-Pound Boxer in the entire history of Boxing...because he says he is.

EDIT: Better than Sugar Ray Robinson even Floyd insinuates.
Yep, Floyd's 39 fights ECLIPSE anything the Great Sugar Ray Robinson ever achieved.
131 wins, 2 losses (both avenged), 2 draws for the Joey Maxim fight.

I would put Robinson , Ezzard Charles , Henry Armstrong and Sam Langford in a league of their own , Robinson being the best .

If the thread title was "Greatest FRONTRUNNER of All-Time", then Mike Tyson would unquestionably be your man.

Handsdown.

Yep.

How about the "#1 Fighter I'd never want to be in the ring with" Thread. Much better IMO.

I'm more inclined to say Ricky Ricardo!

Willie Pep was a defensive wizard though.

He is THE defensive wizard...

Thats what boxing is all about right? not getting hit?

I belive there is a diffrence from the best boxer and the best fighter...

Willie Pep, Maywether Jr., Pernell, etc etc etc are all GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT Boxers.

Best FIGHTER of all times is probabley Sugar Ray Robinson.

I see this trend alot though, that just because a fighter is from the "old era" of boxing DOESNT mean the he was better. You cant say SRR would beat all the best fighters from his weight class(es) because its just not fair.

But come on man, its SRR!

Bernard Hopkins. The most prolific middleweight, and has fought the best competition of his time, is in the retiring age of boxers and is still schooling the up and comers.

Bernard Hopkins, without a doubt, the only counter argument that could be made is Sugar Ray Robinson

And for the record, I think Hopkins in his prime would beat a prime Robinson.

Who did Marciano beat besides an over the hill Joe Louis?

Jersey Joe Walcott, Lee Savold, Archie Moore, Ezzard Charles, Roland La Starza, Don Cockell, Rex Layne, need i go on? you cannot tell me that those aren't good quality wins. and he did beat Joe Louis, over the hill is an opinon.

Face facts,

49-0 88% KO rate, only HW champion ever to go undefeated.

Great fighter. Not the best of all time on the P4P or heavyweight lists.

To me the answer is Sugar Ray Robinson and he's followed by in no order.. Duran, Henry Armstrong, Greb, Ali, Jack Johnson, Pep and Benny L.

Sugar Jackson you fools. He's calling all of you out right now.
