Great scissor sweep by Francis

I noticed that he swept Gane during the fight and was a little frustrated that the commentators did not give Francis any credit for it. Instead they said that only happened because Gane went for a leg lock. It's obvious now watching in slow mo that he went for the leg because he got swept.

Lol I love how 110 pound sherdoggers trashed this grappling when they have never even grappled a HW and had any type of success
Welp looks like all that work at open weight payed off because, by your standards, my opinion is valid.

Francis hit a sloppy sweep on Gane who was already making a questionable transition. He waited for gane to mess up and it worked out. Not even really a textbook sweep. He just commits to the direction Gane was already going.

The best part is there are still people claiming it only happened because Gane went for a leg lock, even with the advantage of multiple-angle slow-motion replay.

Careful, there are people here who'd bet money they know more about BJJ than us all.

What is Gane even trying to accomplish there. I legitimately can't figure it out
There's another angle more from the back that shows his knee is still kinda pointed forward when he steps up. Could be basing just for balance, but since Francis dropped his leg and hip first (to set up for the scissor sweep), Gane could likely have been attempting to step or knee slide over.

Whatever Gane was trying to do, (even if it was to fall back for a leg lock) he could never get close to getting it done because literally the second he lifted his foot, Francis scissor swept him.

It is very important for the failed leg lock attempt to actually be a sweep to the Francis Fans, because that way Frank won the fight by his owns skills and merit, not just Gane throwing it away on a tactical error. If Gane stays on top, he wins the round and the fight as the judges only cared about top control, and Francis Fans know this.

On thing I think is very important to note is the corner advice given to Gane before the final round: his trainer said told him that he was losing, thus making Gane feel like he needed a finish, unaware that he was tied and just needed the round. Knowing this, it makes sense that in the 5th he went for so many subs and kept on trying to finish and improve vs coast for points and lay n pray. Gane did not lose this fight, French Edmund did. Even if it was a legitimate sweep and Gane's leg lock played zero part, there was no reason to try and post for more leverage for ground and pound/passing in such a situation - French Edmund should have told him to hold on for dear life like Francis did when he got top.
