Yeah I suppose that is a good point. Lucas probably didn't think every little detail before the the films were made. Luke was kind of a Mary Sue when it comes to his jedi powers, because why wouldn't Vader a life long Jedi/Sith just crush Luke when it came to them fighting since he would have trained with several Jedi masters.

Yeah, but Obi and Luke don't meet until Luke is already grown up (at least 16-17). And even then, it is only because of R2-D2.

You would have thought Obi would have wanted to train Luke from a young age....not to mention Obi seemingly have forgotten about Leia.

Vader was more machine than man, twisted and evil. He was also old and probably hadn't fought a light sabre duel in decades. Think cormier vs jones, that Olympic experience didn't overcome the younger, more naturally talented fighter.

Lucas really didn't give a rats ass about his story. He was there to do visual effects, sound editing, etc. The actors and script meant nothing to him.

Because the Empire was still strong, and Ben did not want to draw attention to the chosen one. He only began to train Luke when had no other choice.
