Yeah Mara was also important but Vader was his right hand man and his Sith apprentice and the chosen one.. Vader for all intents and purpose should've taken the mantle over from Palpatine

Yeah I guess the 20+ years of investment into him was worth killing a master who wasn't even known for his lightsaber prowess..

And he did kill a master but than instantly loses to a padawan..

That investment was a complete waste. maul sucked.

Imagine what an adult Kenobi would do to him.. Or Kit Fisto, Windu, Tiin, Mundi, Ti. Maul was nothing special.

Besides his awesome Sith Infiltrator ship.

Vader was a drama queen putting himself out there in the public eye. Mara was behind the scenes doing the dirty work undetected.
Mara would have decapitated him via light whip.

I agree, as Kenobi is underrated and one of my all time favorite characters. BUT, the heir apparent to the throne of the dark side shouldn't be losing to a Padawan.

Especially after he killed someone who should be sitting on the High Jedi council

Vader was supposed to be the face the galaxy fears, he was living propaganda piece..

His image brought star systems to their knees...

And if by drama queen you mean hunting down and killing all the remaining Jedi than yes hes a drama queen...

jade doesn't beat Vader ever, I don't know how you could believe that.

Wasn't that the point of Palpatine's rule of one -- to keep himself in power? Maul was a pawn just like everyone else in Palpatine's mind. Besides how long was he an apprentice? Maybe this was first test?

How did Palpatine use Rule of One when he trained apprentices...and sought out new and better ones. I never understood this when it was brought up.

I just assumed that Palpatine planned on living forever and training force sensitives in the way of the Sith. Not divulging all information to them but just enough to keep them at a power level that couldn't overtake his own.

Basically using all as puppets, hence Maul and Dooku.
 
Technically Vader may have been subordinate to Tarkin...just like a Master Chief or Gunnery Sgt is technically subordinate to an Ensign or 2nd LT......

Vader was the most powerful of them all tho I thought according to the mythos.

Or did all the side bullcrap over the years change that?
 
It wasn't a rule of one, the sith thing was rule of two. Always a master and an apprentice. After Maul got killed off the Sidious replaced him with Count Dooku as his new apprentice. Even though Dooku was a former Jedi Master before he turned to the dark side.
