Grand Moff Tarkin Out Ranks Vader?

Vader is like a personal warhound essentially. The same way the dude that fights Matt Damon is in Elysium, the way Seran was to the Reapers in the first Mass Effect.

Tarkin is essentially the political leader of like a quarter of the known universe or some crazy shit so in a purely political situation Tarkin is higher.

Vader was no one's bitch. When he stopped chocking the Admiral he said "As you wish." or "very well" or something of that sort in the most dismissive tone. They were equals in terms of leadership but Vader had one master.

Pretty much, the empire is just a tool to the Siths, the only rank that matters is being a Sith Lord.

Wait I thought the whole Star Wars mythology happened in one Galaxy? And if it is, did Lucas every mentioned that it's the Milky Way or if Star Wars humans are related to Earth Homo Sapians?

Well, galaxies are IN the universe, but I just am saying that because I made a mistake. Yes it's all just one galaxy.

No he never did say which Galaxy it's all set in. There's no relation to Earth whatsoever.

I didn't see it as Vader being a bitch he was issued a command and he followed. I did see it as him being outranked. His "As you wish." or "very well" comment didn't seem dismissive at all to me.

Of course he outranked vader, vader is an enforcer not a politician or soldier. Vader is a valuable asset but moff is essential to the emperor.

Yes there is.

Vader was powerful enough to force choke the entire room if he wanted. He "followed" an order as a kind of "you can keep the idiot around if you want". Notice everyone but Vader was sitting at the table and Vader was chillin in the shadows while these idiots figure out strategy. He was keeping watch over these fucks for the Emperor.

Grand Moffs had command over entire sections of the Galaxy I thought

He's also referred to as "Governor Tarkin" by Leia, indicating a political rank.

The link that explained the relationship between commisars in the USSR and generals says it pretty well.

Vader is a personal enforcer for the Emperor, his authority is based on whatever the Emperor says. If he's like "obey this dude" Vader does it, if the Emperor says "you have total command over this" he's got it

He was personally tasked with the search for Luke after the first Death Star was destroyed because he was best suited for it, wouldn't make sense for him to be taking orders from people in that context

With the 2nd death star, he was there to put dem fellas back on schedule

/Thread.

I agree with all of this he could have wiped everyone out in that room easily. He was still outranked by that guy it's the only reason he had the balls to say anything to Vader to begin with. The wiki link that someone posted actually explains it really well.

That is kinda what I don't understand. Vader didn't have a rank, at least I don't think he did, thus could not be outranked. Saying Tarkin was in charge of putting down the Rebellion and Vader was there at the request of the Emperor to be a wildcard or whatever is a different thing. Isn't there a saying a captain is never outranked on his own ship? IDK I think I'm done nerding out in here.

Dude looks like a ringer from the Nazi SS.

Lucas has said that the Nazis were one of the main inspirations for the Empire. Palpatine's rise, from politician to Fascist dictator, mirrors that of Hitler. He even held the same political office: Chancellor. Order 66 is the Star Wars equivalent of the Night of the Long Knives. The Stormtroppers are based on WWI's Strumtuppen, and many veterans of that unit later joined the Nazi Party, Brown Shirts and the SS. Imperial Officers wear Field Grey uniforms, much like the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS.

Finally, Vader's iconic mask is partly based on WWII-era German helmetse

I've heard all that too, also I heard he ripped off Jack Kirby's Darkseid and the New God's quite a bit.

Actually its the other way around, the Sith needs and apprentice, Moff was to the emperor just a tool, like the empire itself of the death star.

Thats why when they discover Luke, they spend considerable resources to get him, a sith apprentice was essential to both current Sith lords and thus devoted massive resources to get him.

If there's anything I learned from the UFC Heavies forum, it's that rankings are bullsh*t

So, Vader was, in fact, someone's 'bitch' then?

The Rule of One. There can be only one. An apprentice will become the master. In Episode III Anakin tried and failed to become the Sith Master later in Jedi he killed him and became the only Sith left. Fear and anger was his down fall from Episode I to Jedi and he finally conquered that fear and anger with the love for his son and daughter. He was no one's bitch.

I know I previously said no master but that was in error. He had no one he had to answer to even if the Emperor was "more powerful".
