I think so too. I think it was a great move by Speaker Johnson to say the house was leaving to put democrats into a corner.

The democrats want to use this as a rally point, to say to their base that they are standing up to Trump. However will only just show that a lot of government isn’t needed and people don’t feel it.

If I understand correctly, he will be able to deem certain things essential, such as ICE and such and keep his agenda going for the most part.

Schumer should and will be blamed by the non-essential employees, and government workers and contractors normally lean democrat.
