Gordon Ryan vs Felipe Pena

that was painful to watch (most of it). Attempt shitty collar ties, half ass foot sweep.

gordon either: 1) flops on his ass or 2) bums rushes a takedown attempt and almost gets felipe's back.

felipe entangles legs and eventually almost gets a sweep, both stand.

Rinse and repeat.

BTW did felipe quit?

no mas?

I don't understand what Pena was saying. Was he just blaming the loss on Lo's death? Why was he talking about time limits then.

lmao gordon destroying him in the interview more than in the match

Yeah, there is no doubt that Pena was cooked, and Gordon said him saying he was distraught was an excuse, that said, I believe it's possible Pena walked out on the mat just to fulfill the obligation but wasn't truly hungry, how can you be? No doubt Gordon's dad dying was bad, but natural, Leandro got murdered...

Gordon wasn't going 100% but Pena nullified a lot of his game under the worst circumstances. Gordon is stoked but I'm not sold he can consistently beat Pena, especially if Pena's head is right.

Gordon was increasing pressure and was breaking Peña down. It looked like he quit around the 40 min mark but then the fight continued. It was clear he was mentally and physically folding to Gordon’s pressure, the submission was inevitable and Peña knew it. More pride in getting subbed than bitching out. Gordon won via techniques and verbal submission.

Gordon got a few sweeps early (invited Peña on top several times) got several take downs and Peña had no successful sweeps, takedowns or wearing Gordon down. Peña was hitting roadblocks and realized he was on a steep downhill slide and nothing he was doing was working. Gordon control this fight until Peña quit.

But this way Pena fans can say that Gordon didn't do anything and Pena didn't tap lmao

Gordon got the takedowns but not much else. The takedowns and couple of sweeps didn't lead to anything better... It only got better for Gordon when Pena started gassing, Pena was gassing because he either had weaker conditioning or he was distracted by a friend getting shot in the head but forced himself to compete otherwise WNO would never offer him another fight.

Haven’t seen the match yet.

You who watched, how do you think it would play out with ADCC rules? Or was it just one trying to get the other one tired?

Where do you guys watch the matches other than flow?

I think Gordon is not gonna have it easy this ADCC, looks like he bit more than he can chew. His bracket plus the super fight is a bit too much.

If everyone tries to stall Gordon with 50/50 it's gonna be a boring show.

Well in the end, for as much as I hate it, he verbally tapped. I don't see the controversy or the discussion in pure terms of results, that's still a submission.

That said.. I don't have trouble believe he was distraught at Leandro's tragic news. I wouldn't have blame him if he decided to not step on the tatami and I think many other people would have gave him a pass.

Hope they'll face again possibly in a different ruleset, enough with this "I was deliberately going slow" thing, I want to see Gordan being forced to go for the kill from the get go.

p.s. starting to think Galvao could actually game it in 20/30 minutes.
