Funny that Dr. Carson wants to end welfare. A system that he was fully brought up as he admitted early in his career.

The GOP's Plan to Isolate Rand Paul
Mike Rogers's frustration was approaching full boil. It was July 2013, and the Intelligence Committee chairman was seated behind a lectern on the House floor, watching a junior Republican invoke the Fourth Amendment to criticize National Security Agency intelligence-gathering procedures.

Rogers should have been used to it by now—accustomed to seeing lawmakers who lack top-secret clearances or relevant security experiences lash out against the muscular policies the Republican Party spent decades building. Members of the GOP's nascent libertarian arm had been emboldened in the aftermath of George W. Bush's presidency, by controversies over drone warfare and mass data collection—and were being encouraged by their Senate patron, Rand Paul, to make noise.

CPAC STRAW-POLL WINNERS DON'T ALWAYS BECOME GOP NOMINEES

In Early Polling, Walker Stands Apart
Can Scott Walker keep his balance?

That's quickly become one of the most consequential early questions as the 2016 Republican presidential race begins to take shape at gatherings like the closely-watched Conservative Political Action Conference outside Washington on Thursday and Friday.

Like other polls of early sentiment among Republican voters, a new survey of possible Iowa caucus-goers released Wednesday succinctly captured what could be Walker's best asset as a potential 2016 contender: the breadth of his appeal.

At CPAC, Rand Paul Says He Will Propose 'Largest Tax Cut in American History'

In a 15-minute speech interrupted by applause and chants of "President Paul," he delivered a tribute to small-government Republicanism, both foreign and domestic. In doing so, he offered a sharp contrast with the rest of the GOP field, especially on international affairs, declaring he wanted an American military "unparalleled and undefeatable and unencumbered by nation building."

"As conservatives, we should not succumb to the notion that a government inept at home will somehow become a success abroad," Paul declared.

Even if Paul's libertarian-leanings make him an outlier in the GOP field, they aligned him with the younger CPAC crowd. He spoke about the need to "promote stability" and touted his opposition to arming rebels in Syria in late 2013.

It's a shame Rand has such ridiculous positions on domestic issues. While I'm not an isolationist, it's nice to see someone talk about cutting military spending.

Crowd is fired up for Rand at CPAC!

Couldn't find his speech last night to load and I heard his stole the show. Only could find 2014 where he seemed like he lost his voice.

Such as? What positions of his do you find "ridiculous"? It's one thing to simply disagree with someone else's position, but if you're going to call someone's position "ridiculous", you have to actually show why someone's position is "ridiculous". Otherwise you're simply trying to attach a label to someone's argument/position with no evidence.

Largest tax cut in US history would increase the national debt significantly. Republicans seems to only care about the debt when Dems spend more. Whenever they cut revenue, it doesn't matter at all the implications it has on the budget/debt.

I unnderstand Rand may be assuming budget cuts with this. We usually see much less spending cuts with the tax cuts that are made. They usually never offset each other.

Rubio Says He's Learned a Lesson About Immigration Legislation
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio recalled his unlikely path to Washington, his family's struggle to leave Cuba and start over in America, and criticized President Barack Obama's foreign policy, previewing the themes he'd focus on if he decides to run for president.

Speaking Friday before the Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, Md., Rubio also continued to distance himself from his role in pushing a bipartisan immigration plan through the Senate in 2014, saying he learned lessons and declining to push back on an assertion from Fox News personality Sean Hannity that Rubio had regrets about the legislation. Asked later what his top five priorities would be as president, Rubio didn't mention immigration.

"What I've learned is you can't even have a conversation about that until people believe and know

Rubio's CPAC Speech

I don't see how anyone can dismiss this guy for 2016.

The GOP will be missing a huge opportunity by making Bush their candidate. You put in a new face and they are able to paint Hilary as the past and themselves as the future.

Those "President Paul!" chants make me smile and give me a glimmer of hope.

I think a central message that came out of CPAC 2015 was to reach farther out to a wider range of voters. Christie, Rubio, Paul, and Bush all made examples of what issues can appeal to voters the party hasn't reached in the past. Paul was the most vocal about it but I think the fact that CPAC didn't flat out boo the idea of immigration says a lot.
