Who is an embarrassment on the left that is running for President? Hillary and Bernie conduct themselves like adults and are not inflammatory. The respect each other at debates and discuss issues.
Republicans are now going after each others wives and literally comparing dick sizes.
Maybe you don't like Dems and have different world views, but your kids wouldn't be embarrassed to say President Clinton or Sanders, but should Trump or Cruz win my god, it's really bad.
It's not just Hillary and Bernie that are decent, every other (serious) nomination candidate in the last decade have been the same. Edwards, Kerry, Dean, Kucinich, Bradley, they've all carried themselves like adults and have serious proposals.
Meanwhile, the Republicans have had gems like Perry, Bachmann, Cain, Palin (she counts), Huckabee, Santorum. Holy fucking shit. Religious fanatics, a secessionist, one more outrageous than the other. It started with Dubya, and it's just been getting worse every election since for them
The US has never been more primed (in the last 100yrs) for a legitimate third party to form.
I agree but I keep trying to think of actual scenarios where that would happen.
The GOP is ripe for splitting. Their two factions simply cannot be together anymore. If the moderate, sane faction splits and forms an entirely new party, they'd need to bring over some Democrats. If not, it's just handing Congress majority to the Democrats. I guess the most realistic option would be for this new 3rd party to lose these elections but over the years, slowly, try to draw in Democrats in order to get a more or less 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 scenario.
