Jake Tapper will moderate CNN’s first Republican presidential debate, to be held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California. Tapper made the announcement this morning on State of the Union, in his debut as host.

Oh, fuck no.

Palin could get it, though.

Oh, definitely, but I've always had a problem resisting women who are clearly insane. I think part of me believes if I can just get them off they'll realize what heartless witches they are. So far the results are pessimistic.

Is Jeb Bush Too Liberal To Win The Republican Nomination In 2016?

They make a new article every other week using that infographic

Yeah, I've seen it in here a lot, I still think the criteria might be suspect and slightly subjective. If it weren't for his name Bush would be almost a lock, he has too many moderates behind him while everyone else scrambles for the crazies. I like him a little less everyday, but I'm not really the target demo, because I'd cut a finger off before voting for a Bush.

Also, kind of funny sidenote, when I moved to Canada I got a little tired of the "punks" I knew just bashing America without any facts (other than that we elected Bush) so I had a T-shirt made with "USA: I VOTED BUSH" made and wore it all the time. It felt so wrong, but so right.

"Jeb honey, if you knew what you knew now, would you still marry me?"
"Well dear, I think we've done a lot of good bringing our sons and daughters, mostly sons, up in this world, and to question our marriage does a disservice to them."
"Even after all the fights, and the debt, and the falling out with my family..."
"Sweetheart, your father was a mean old koot, and we're better off without him."
"And those few years I eloped with that community organizer? You really forgive me?"
"Of course, you were just culturally curious, I knew you'd come back, every trist has its term limits!"
*audience laughs*
(Jeb is filmed in front of a live partisan audience)

But yeah, the logo struck me as kind of cartoony, but the name Jeb doesn't give you too much to work with. I think a standard, boxy logo with some nice lettering would have been better. People aren't voting Jeb because he has panache, it's more like someone panicking in line at the ice cream counter and ordering vanilla.

^He can't run away from his last name, no matter what he tries - he should not show this weakness but instead embrace it rather than indicating he's hiding from it. Also George W. is seen as the dunce and he went the folksy aw shucks route when he ran - Jeb should be separating himself from his brother by casting himself as super serious political wonk, not trying to out-folksy Dubya.

I agree, he should be trying to portray himself as the one that payed attention in class, and if he'd had first crack instead of W. none of this would have happened. His reluctance to criticize his brother is going to hurt him.

lol godspeed

I laughed.

Didn't even realize he was using the first name only.

It looks a lot like Bernie Sander's logo tbh. Cartoony/inviting. Not the kinda logo I'd expect for the favorite in the race.

Monmouth University poll showing Carson in 1st place

Carson 11
Walker 10
Bush 9
Rubio 9
Huckabee 8
Paul 6
Cruz 5
Christie 4
Perry 4
Santorum 3
Trump 2
Fiorina 2
Graham 2
Kasich 1
Jindal 1

Rubio and Bush come out on top with "second choice" at 10% and 9%

Just wait until Carson gets in front of a mic with someone who knows their shit. He's going to look like a bumbling fool.

Hate that guy. I grew up Seventh-day Adventist, too, so that doesn't help.

To be fair, I think Romney was a "weak" frontrunner too in that no one really wanted him in the first place, they just had to pick a poison the rest of the country might be crazy enough to swallow. That field wasn't as strong as this one though, at least in diversity and strength at the top. I'd still put my money on Jeb, but I wouldn't be shocked to see him put in some tough spots.

Romney did poll far better however. He maintained 20% throughout while all the other weak candidates just got temporary surges to try to combat Romney. This election, Bush is at 10% and 3 other candidates are right there with him. The field is much wider and has more qualified candidates as well.

Romney also would've sealed the election far sooner if he had the number of debates in this cycle. They allowed 20+ debates which kept the conversation going and the race open.

Let's see Carson try to debate directly with Cruz. :)

Romney was a clear front runner, but I think you and I will agree that Jeb is the benchmark this cycle. He'll do alright in the debates, fair in the media, and see if anyone can separate from the pack. Rubio is the one who can hurt him, and Walker is the heir to the throne if they waste their resources fightsling over Florida. I just feel Jeb is the guy to beat, even if the polling doesn't have him as far ahead. I mean, Carson is up there with him, and we both know that won't last more than a debate or two.

I'll say if no one stands out in the debates, Bush will get the nomination. I don't consider him "next in line" at all and also would say he is the GOP voter's Plan B. They want a different candidate but will settle for him if nothing else occurs.

The difference between 2012 and 2016 isn't just the 20% with Romney and 10% with Bush either. I think Romney went against a far weaker field that really all tried filling in the same space in the voting demographic other than Santorum. Not only does 2016 have a better field, they also have multiple candidates in different niches.

Jeb is the guy people believe will lose just as much as we believe he will win. If I had to bet on an even "Who will win the GOP nomination? Jeb or some in the rest of the GOP field", I would pick the field. However, I wouldn't pick one specific candidate over Jeb.
