It's not pointless. Immigration is probably the most important question this country faces right now and forcing the candidates to talk about how they will deal with it exposes their seriousness in wanting to tackle the question.

Walker, by the way, has changed his mind on this topic in a way you criticized Trump for doing. (So has Jeb, who claimed in his book with Clint Bolick that illegals shouldn't be given citizenship and then later changed his mind.)

The next president won't be able to get it done so yes, it's a pointless topic to talk about. I didn't say immigration is a pointless topic. Birthright citizenship is.

Donald Trump Puts 'Hedge Fund Guys' on Notice
For a moment there, Donald Trump was starting to sound a lot like Bernie Sanders.

The billionaire Republican front-runner assailed hedge fund managers in a Sunday appearance on CBS' Face the Nation in which he portrayed himself as a champion of the middle class.

"They're paying nothing. And it's ridiculous," Trump said of those who make a living running hedge funds. "I want to save the middle class. You know, the middle class

There's no agreement on whether birthright citizenship is a constitutional right or not, so the next president can and should try to end it.

Besides, the candidates should also try to end chain migration, which strongly drives birthright citizenship. Discussing one important issue often leads to another productive policy discussion.

These are all serious topics, and they need to be discussed. I'd much rather have them discuss immigration than see them debate how they are going to take on Putin, when everyone knows they aren't going to do any such thing.

Supreme Court has rued on it so there isn't a meaningful debate left. The executive branches job isn't about interpreting law or even creating new law. It would take congress, the president and large majority of governors to overturn that ruling. The public would need to be far more in agreement on the topic and even then, it would be unlikely for an amendment to be passed.

Why do we even bother with the charades?

Jeb Bush Vs. Hillary Clinton

The World Elite - the Council - the BIS (Bank of International Settlements) have hand selected these two.

You have no choice - you will be given these two Globalist candidates.

Jeb Bush takes the 2016 Elections.

I don't understand why people come in here to announce one liners like this. Yes, we know they are the establishment candidate on each side. Thank you for enlightening us.

We were going to do the first to drop out next thread for poll but I think enough time has gone by for a new candidate poll. May do that instead.

Just make a poll of all the people in the race so far. On the next Democrat version of this thread, there doesn't seem to be any reason to have Warren right now, because I don't think she will run. Just add all the declared Republicans for this one, if you would.

The Dem one always was just going to be an updated poll because of how slow it's going. The V3 had something different just because nothing new really happened in the two months from V2 to V3 to ask the same question. A lot has at this point though. Doubt we will see it as lopsided with Paul.

Rand Paul Can Seek Re-Election and White House Run, Kentucky G.O.P. Decides

Senator Rand Paul, averting what would have been a blow to his waning presidential hopes, engineered a vote by the Kentucky Republican Party on Saturday to change the state

As Rivals Snipe, Trump Dodges Questions on Details of Immigration Plan
23trump-firstdraft-tmagArticle.jpg

Donald J. Trump repeatedly side-stepped questions on Sunday about how he would pay for his new plan to deport undocumented immigrants, and he also faced criticism from several rivals for the Republican presidential nomination about his call to end so-called birthright citizenship for children of those immigrants.

Mr. Trump, the billionaire businessman whose blunt talk and outsider appeal has helped him build a lead in Republican polls, refused to provide specifics about his immigration plans during phone interviews on two Sunday news programs, ABC

In all this Trump Hysteria I have forgotten about Rand Paul, who I believe is running the same ticket as his old man Ron.

If yall recall the last election everyone here was talking about Ron.

So who here has love for his boy Rand?

some of his politicial positions:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_Rand_Paul

Also who will be Trump's VP if he wins the nod?

A crowded field has made the difference. Ron's campaign proved that it's max potential was about 12% in polls. Obviously Rand has done a better job in his career so far to not look like a fringe candidate but I think he is stil restricted to that same ceiling his father had. The truth is that the libertarian wing ins't strong enough in the GOP because of the older generation that dominates. Once their gone, we may see more of it but until then, it has no chance of traction.

I really wish Chritie and Bush would drop out. Pipe dream.

Trump is showing an effort by meeting with smart people. I think over time, he will continue meeting with more and more people, who will help shape his idea and plans. Right now we're just in the beginning. Let's see how much Trump changes between now and January.

Christie might before Iowa. He was campaigning hard in NH but it hasn't been affecting his polls there too. Probably very discouraging for him to see Kasich rise in NH too with just one debate. If he doesn't make the top 10 for CNN, he likely is out. They should get rid of the lower tier debate all together.

Rand describes himself as a constitutional conservative. Is that libertarian?

Also it seems Ron thinks himself a libertarian. He did run under that party once.

And it seems the two do differ on some issues. Like Rand wants path to citizenship for illegals, and Ron does not.

Rand represents the libertarian wing for the GOP at this point. Not all his views are straight-line libertarian but him and his followers lean towards that ideology.
