I can't believe we're going to have to watch that buffoon on a debate stage with people who actually know things about politics. It's like if Hulk Hogan snuck into an MMA cage and everyone just shrugged and said "Yeah, let's go with it." Hopefully we get some good comedy out of it, and maybe even his secret plan to destroy ISIS.

I'm interested to see him and Cruz go at it. Trump will do his usual shtick, but Cruz will come back with an actual argument, with facts, and prove it himself without some bitch having to jump in for him. Will be interesting.

Political debates are much more akin to WWE than to MMA.

They are just performing to an audience, blowing hot air the entire time. It's fake.

This. Its embarrassing. I wonder if its as bad in other countries.
Like if I invited a Swede over to watch the debate, would it be the same as inviting a friend over to watch the fight and when he gets there I have the WrestleMania PPV?

lol, this is gonna be great. It wont sink the GOP. It'll make them rise and bring the best out in them. If Donald starts getting crazy, the smart ones will go in the opposite direction and sound extremely sane. Voters will gravitate towards the reasonable ones.

Not to mention.... Ivanka is a total babe. Would. Wouldx1000. :D

That's not what happened in 2012. The debates turned into a circus of who would promise the most hard right policies. They had everyone raise their hands about not raising taxes.

I'm just hoping because this go-round seems a lot better than last time (candidate selection) that the heavy hitters involved will take a stand for what they believe and rise above any buffoonery.

I think Cruz and Rand will be two who stick to their guns throughout and rise above because of it. Maybe Jeb. The rest I am unsure of.

Seems like the GOP is going to have a hard time getting support in both Florida and Ohio, two states they definitely need if PA is off the table (I believe it is)

Those numbers aren't too promising for Bush and Rubio, it's good most of the Repub base doesn't look at polls, or they'd be asking some tough questions.

Pretty bad when you aren't leading in your state. It may narrow once there is a specific nominee but I'm not sure. Pennsylvania polls are really trying to convince me it's possible for it to be red in 2016. I still won't believe it until it happens.

I think Pennsylvania will be safe, but a lot can happen. I think Hillary has some "Yeah, we might as well" going for her, in that she'll do better in the booth than in the polls. That can also work against her if people get too apathetic to even come out, but it is there. I'm predicting record low turnout, or close to it.

Pennsylvania is fools gold for Republicans. Polling always teases them to spend money there, but then come election day it's always safe Dem. Doesn't help the GOP cause in 2016 when the Dem Convention is in Philly as well, and with a Dem Governor this time around.

Also these head to head polls are not really worth much because there is a lot of strategic answering - ie if you're a Rubio supporter polled, you say you'd vote Hillary over Jeb and vice versa to try and make your candidate strongest against Hillary sorta deal.

Jeb/Rubio will win Florida come the GE, and Ohio will probably be lean GOP if Kasich is on the ticket.

I remember in 2008 around my area, there was more support for Hillary than Obama. The people I knew that leaned left liked her more and I only saw lawn signs for her. It could be a bigger blowout than Obama had unless she gets less State College voters.

Well she won PA in the primary, didn't she? The country has been through a lot in the last 8 years, and I know the blue collar worker in Pennsylvania must be hurting in many areas, but I think it will still stand. If the GOP makes a fight of it they will have to really go hard at Obama's economic record, and that's frankly not a meal ticket.

She did.

Interesting fact. Hillary actually won the primary popular vote in 2008.

Weird. PA was one of the States I actually paid attention to the results for, just cause my dad's family lives there, I don't remember much else, I wonder who would be coming up for the Dems now if Hillary had won. A slightly older, less optimistic Obama?

^Would Obama have stayed in the Senate the past eight years? Accepted a Hillary cabinet gig? Got out of politics? I had read that Hillary would have appointed him to SCOTUS if he wanted that route as well.

Who would Hillary's VP have been? Back then there was rumblings for Evan Bayh if I'm remembering correctly, Ohio's then Gov. Ted Strickland was also mentioned. I don't think either would be favorites now. Progressive Wing would have probably split from Hillary much earlier than they did Pres. Obama, so there would be better established progressive leaders to the point Bernie Sanders wouldn't have to run because nobody else would. Elizabeth Warren probably never runs for the Senate though - probably still in academia, so that would be interesting as well.
