Gone Zero Carb.

Current status update, for those who are interested--

I'm eating 2 meals/day with a little snacking here and there.

So far I've lost about 5% of total body weight. Belt is one loop tighter.

Mental accuity is unchanged, mood swings are diminished, IMO.

I am rarely hungry between meals, and I eat until full. No calorie counting, but I'm guessing the caloric intake is on the same order as before.

Workouts are good, energy levels are as high or higher than before.

Each day I generally eat a steak, three or four eggs, and some pork or chicken. Some cheese here and there as a garnish or a snack. Lunch at work is easy, I bring a big piece of meat and microwave it.

its been about a month so far, right?

so do you think adding veggies would somehow negate the positive effects.

I find it hard to believe that meat can taste better than it does already. If true that would be amazing indeed.

LOL, I think it's tasting better because I finally know how to correctly cook a good piece of meat! hehe...

For beef: Few seasonings (minimal salt and pepper), a pan on high heat, sear both sides and very rare in the middle. Melted butter on top is optional.

For pork chops: fry in coconut oil on high heat in a covered pan, with few seasonings.

What does you pre and post workout meals look like? Has your body adapted to utilizing fat for energy?

No pre/post workout meal. I eat when hungry. (usually have dinner like an hour after workout)

My body must have adapted, since I've been consuming nothing but fat and protein for over a month, and my energy levels are quite normal.

Viljamhur actually repeated his diet in controlled circumstances to prove his point that no carb diet does not cause scurvy. He and one of his friends were residented to a clinic which they were basically locked in for the first three months of the test to assure complience to the diet and lived there with normal access to outside world for the rest of the 9 months. Neither got scurvey, both were in perfect health after the 12 months.

From pubmed you can find a reserch about the effects of eating fruits and veggies vs. not eating them as much, you might be surprised about the outcome.

There is also speculation about the healthines of fructose, since it is transported thrue the hepatic vein directly and is broken down in the liver before the body uses it. Also large amounts of fructose is a stress to the liver and can cause fatty liver disease.

There is also a theory that the fruits are full of anti-oxidants to protect them from the fructose that is there to seduce the seed transporters to eat the fruit.

I don't doubt that "our ancestors" who were killing wild game, that ate a completely natural diet, got all the nutrients they needed from meat & fat. However, I don't think that would be the case these days. I suggest a multi-vitamin at least, if not a few greens.

Our ancestors were called hunters AND GATHERS, they didn't gather meat, they gatherd wild groweing veggies, fruits, berries, mushrooms etc etc

I am very aware of that, thanks for missing the point of that post

Bad Idea. You should not eliminate anything comletly out of your diet. Besides, it you compete or do any kind of sport, there is no way you will be able to be at full potential without eating any carbs.

A finnish MMA fighter Mikko Rupponen does something like this, he was suffering from IBS and had to re-evaluate his diet, there was a one day sample menu in a local mma-mag. It contained 6 eggs for breakfast and a 1kg of beef during the day. He does use supplements and eats some vegetables.

Here's the dude.

Also studies theoretical physics, strange guy.

TS is fine as long as he is eating enough and a good balance of fat. He is lacking phytonutrients, but that is still a newer issue. Carbohydrates arent essential. I dont eat starchy carbs at all during rest days

Without the fats though, proteins would end up converting to glucose for 100% of the energy and the TS would end up buying what Lyle McDonald calls em "expensive carbs".

This is a very debatable statement right here. If protein turns to glucose, then why will a person who eats 100% protein die within 7 to 10 days? We know that the way to prevent rabbit starvation is to eat either fat or carbs with protein. Why does someone get sick and die if they eat nothing but lean meat? Stefansson said that anything below 30% fat on an all meat regimen will indude rabbit sickness and that 50-80% fat is optimal.

I don't like anything that is goes to extremes when it comes to nutrition.

Love my fruit and veggies too much too.

Breakfast/lunch at work today of a pork chop and some roast chicken with skin.

The workout tonight was good. did 15 mins cardio and 15 mins of circuit weights. Muscles didn't tire during weight session even though it was heavier than my usual. Had plenty of energy for the cardio.

Came back home, showered off, and had dinner of two fatty 1/4lb hamburgers with two thick slices of cheese and 2 eggs.

What are you gaining from 15 minutes of cardio?

Not to sound weird but can you post pics of your current self and track it week by week? I'm curious to see the progress on body comp.
