Goldy > Anik.

I enjoyed Goldy more back in the day, but I think he is objectively worse at the job.
He was like the DDP of commentary. It wasn't tight, textbook well crafted commentary. He would flop for an ankle pick, whiff on a haymaker by 3 feet and seem like an uncoordinated dork but goddammit he was the champion of the world.

I'm unsure if you can be 'objective' about commentary tbh its all very subjective

That's true and a good comparison, I guess I just mean I think he makes significantly less errors and is much more professional than Goldie.

Complaining seems pointless, if you don't like the commentary put it on mute, problem solved.

The thing that bites me re: Goldie is that he had so, sooo long to get clued up, work at it, but he couldn't even learn the basics of not sounding like English was his second language.

That being said, Goldie >>>>>> Anik, in spite of all the retarded shit

I love Goldie, but don't be absurd. Anik is the GOAT.

We are lucky to have him. Imagine if we had a Stephen A Smith clowning up the sport.

No shade on Anik personally but the tone of his voice is nails screeching across a chalk board for me... he's probably a cool guy but as soon as he speaks it diminishes watching the fight for me...

hmmm..... "HOT TAKE!, When Ever A MAN, Has His Legs Across Your Face... Your in trouble!!! [un-bottons and re-buttons loud suit jacket]...

IDK... could be worth it in humor... Couldn't be worse that Faber And Snoop Dog sippin sizzurp and commentating which was tried...

I never felt teh hate for Goldie... & was shocked a bit when I started hearing it.

I don't feel that for Anik either. I think he does a very good job.

They both do/did the play by play & advertisement stuff etc... & allow the other/others in teh booth to talk technique & strategy etc... so in the times they do cross that line, I'm not bothered if their take isn't up to par with the others. More often than not, I'd say... they do well in those more rare statements.

Technically their role is play by play and the Rogan/DC/often a former fighter does the "color commentary" 🤓

Anik revealing fighters inner demons>Goldie mispronouncing everything
Yeah...

like Anik sucks when he does that, but at least it's his intention to do it.

Goldy just sucks cos he sucks

If you need a Joe Anik trying to be the smartest guy in the room pointing out obvious shit as your play by play guy more power to you. I never thought Goldy saying dumb shit detracted from the show lol. You just laugh at him and move on it was part of the charm. He added more to a broadcast in one fight than Anik has added in his entire career.

I DONT need a Jon Anik. Let me be clear on that.

but...

I could simply understand that if a guy is not doin a good job AND has problems behind the scenes, substance abuse issues and what not, well he doesnt have a leg to stand on then.

Goldberg made Rogan seem smart and knowledgeable about the sport, so the dynamic worked. 👧 Now without Goldberg, Rogan seems out of his depth next to a surly Cruz or whoever. XD
Rogan really didn't think this through when he viciously and maliciously backstabbed and betrayed Goldberg, did he? <lol>

Not sure where all this sudden Goldy love is coming from but I have to agree with everyone who says his successors are no better and in many cases even worse.
