He’s there for a month, take some pepto, and build tolerance. IMO, street food is one of the best parts of a trip, as long as the place is busy, the food is more likely fresh

Building up a tolerance to unclean water would not be high on my bucket list but good point about going to the more crowded places for food. Always go where the locals go. Or so they say.

Don't get anyone pregnant. Repeat over and over in your head. Don't trust anyone protect yourself at all times.
Nothing works properly and the bureaucracy is a mess. But remember to have fun and don't get anyone pregnant. I can't stress this enough. Then negotiate an immediate 3 weeks vacation at the end of the assignment to get your self set. Use the time in the area to explore nearby countries since you are in the area and don't need to fly hours just to get to Asia from the US. I think Manilla to Sydney Australia is roughly 9 hours compared to double that from the US.

Lol the of course first thing these guys think about is the women.

Cebu is beautiful for it's nature. If you get out of the city, go to Moalboal, which has some of the best snorkeling/diving I've ever seen. You can also drive out and cliff dive off waterfalls.

You can see whale sharks at Oslob but it's not the most natural authentic experience because they attract the animals with food. Just remember to pick up all your trash and even other people's trash because the animals can accidentally swallow shit.

IMO the food in general sucks but lechon is good.

My only advice about the women is to make sure they are indeed female. I get around that issue by simply not tangling with the locals in the first place.

Based off the travel budget and what the nicer hotels cost that shouldn't be an issue. I'll be there for 34 days so I'm assuming I'll have to wash clothes/have them washed but that's about it. I've read about the humidity but I lived on the east coast and been to the Florida keys and Hawaii so have an idea of what to expect.

I've read about that grab app because apparently scamming foreigners with inflated cab fares seems to be a common thing, but we'll have a driver for most trips we take.

I'm going with 0 specific expectations but having been single for a year and doing nothing but working out/enjoying life when they asked if anyone wanted to go I volunteered and got selected.

Using grab and not drinking the tap water is basic Southeast Asia stuff.
