I've never succumbed to the Rippetoe notion that "press" should imply a strict overhead press, so I always note if it is.

I see. I suppose you could say I "grew up" with Rippetoe's stuff, so his terminology on the press just seems intuitive to me.

As far as the deadlifting, I offset that silly "dislike" for you :) Good stuff. Is the touch-n-go just a habit, or do you think it's more productive for you (seems to be working)? Also, I thought you were an Oly shoe puller (?).

Finally, did you go to the strongman contest in MP yesterday?

I've never been an oly shoe puller. Deads are actually the only thing I don't wear them for. I've tried them, but always preferred flats. I used to reset reps, but I've been doing T&G lately, simply because once I lock in my hook grip, I want to get the set over with as fast as possible to make the thumb pain stop.

I didn't go to the strongman. I had kids soccer and such and my wife is due with #2 in two days, so I've been trying to stay relatively close to home lately.

OK, yeah, same here, Chucks for deads, Oly shoes for everything else. For some reason, I thought you switched from flats to Oly shoes when you switched to hook grip post-injury.
