I guess you haven't watched Glory in a while. This is your opinion man. There are multiple scenes and right now in Glory the new matchmaking is doing a great job of choosing the talent pool. Some have limits of course to win elite opposition.

There was absolutely no bum on this card, it was top notch. Stefanovski on the main card, he's really been lacking top notch lately. He's not the same since Superkombat 2016 or something.

On the undercard, I probably wouldn't have signed Barkouch. Even though at one point he was considered perhaps more talented than Nabil Khachab.
The LHW title fight was a match up of absolute fucking bums, even Vanhoeven isnt a great ahtlete, but he at least is smart and coordinated enough to dominate for 12 years or whatever it's been now. Kickboxing has been pretty barren of real athletes for a long time. Dude's look like they barely know how to move and are fighting for titles.

Tarik calling out Rico is hilarious. It's as if he's forgotten the last time they fought.
It's ridiculous. Rico man handled him and he more or less gave up. Or at least that's the way it looked to me.

And the way he was screaming about how he was the baddest LH was pathetic. You would have thought he beat Abena from pillar to post when that fight could have easily been a draw. Frankly he's lucky that the ref didn't count some of those leg kick knock downs, because if he had it would have been Abena with the belt.

Not to mention that you could reasonably argue that Maslobojev is the real man to beat, considering that his losses were due to weird cuts. Plus Rajabzadeh is also deserving of a shot. He really needs to clean house at LH before he starts calling out Rico.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Since Glory don't do standing 8s, the judges could've awarded a 10-8 from Tarek's leg kick knockdowns. At their flagship event of the year in Collision i expect the judging to be top notch.

Definitely. The judging and reffing was pretty piss poor. Take the Cvjetićanin fight, what the hell happened at the end of the round? That could have easily been a knockout, but it wasn't even counted as a knock down.

Then you have the judges. Some of those idiots have to be blind or fiending for a crack pipe, because they clearly weren't watching the fight(s) I was watching.I saw a few rounds where a fighter would straight dominante, but it would be scored for the other fighter. In a three round fight, one poorly scored round, or ignored knock down can cost you the whole fight.

Very strange card all round.

I missed this live but managed to avoid spoilers and catch a re-play.

Good main event. Rico getting dropped then coming back always makes for some good drama.

LHW title fight was a calf kicking mess. Nice output, but this isn't the high level Kickboxing that I want to see.

How about the nerve of Glory to show Artem Vakhitov and say he's going to go represent Glory in the UFC, as if they didn't kick him out of Glory as the reigning champion years ago...

It is nice to see them filling a big stadium. The fights were just OK though. Maybe the undercard was more exciting.

That was the weakest caliber of athlete in a championship fight I have ever seen'

And I've watched Powerslap
What do you expect? One of the fighters is called Kebab and looks like he's eaten way too many during camp.

They're using the soon-to-be UFC fighter for their own publicity by inviting him to the events now and bringing him on camera saying he will represent Glory in the UFC, after kicking him out of his contract as a champion for being Russian. It is a joke indeed.

Overall in the entire card there were too few lower weightclass fights, mostly just LHW and HW fights, which doesn't tend to bring the most fast paced and technical action.

Usually when you have a card stacked with big boys you can expect a lot of knockdowns and knockouts but overall the card lacked that (just 1 finish in the entire card from memory which was a complete mismatch), which also doesn't help with making the event exciting. I don't watch combat sports just for knockouts but one can't deny that's also what people want to see especially in the audience.

Many fights were also a bit one sided, and in some cases some of the fighters who could make a come back suddenly slowed down and seemed content with losing by decision.

Overall I rate the card a 5/10. It got saved by a few good fights like Maslobojev vs Latescu, Ozcaglayan vs Dhegir, and the main event.

I think they *really* want to recreate the aura that the the old K-1 GP had, but the unfortunate truth is that there just aren't as many talented HWs competing in combat sports as there used to be. The majority of the best Kickboxers in the world right now are in the 53kg - 71kg weight classes and those are categories where Glory doesn't even have divisions, or they had to partner up with another promotion to fill it out (i.e., 145lbs/RISE). IMO their best bet is to sign as many Welterweight and Middleweight fighers as they can, since those seem to be the deepest weight classes available to them.

Nice cheat shot by Levi. Should deduct a point for that flying soccer kick. Cheater. Desperate.

If you watch carelly you'll see that he threw himself in the air to follow up with a flying knee or kick before Rico even dropped or touched the ground, so the kick he landed was a mix of already being thrown in the air and Rico not being completely downed by the time he landed it. It's not like he kicked him while Rico was already downed.

If that's what they wanted to re-create then they should have just made all the other heavyweights fight on that card as well and not in recent events instead. This card was for the most part LHW fights.

I still think if they had thrown a couple more 65 and/or 70 kg fights in there this card would have had some more fast-paced technical fights to mix it up a bit.

But yeah clearly the talent is lacking a bit overall in those divisions nowadays especially since it's split between different organisations and now also MMA.

Yeah, Bahram Rajabzadeh vs. Daniel Stefanovski was a total joke. It also doesn't do well to hype Bahram with that win because it was so sad to watch. So cringe seeing him all amped up after that "finish"... the guy literally just fell to the ground and got a standing count out when he was clearly not rocked, just didn't want to continue because it was such miss match.

Really naive. It's Thai style kick them while they're going down, pretend it's an accident. Rico was down. Where did he aim this soccer kick at ? Did he want to soccer kick his shin with his toes ?

So is it while they're going down or while they're down? You're contracting yourself.

Rico wasn't down when Leghters jumped for a kick, he wanted to follow up with the punch he landed, the kick landed exactly as Rico was about to put his knee and hand down.

I don't see that as a "cheat shot" or worth calling him a "desparate" "cheater". You're getting agitated like a woman about something that was more a timing thing than a voluntary cheat shot.

When you're going down, 2 seconds later you are down. You're being uninteligent.

What was that kick ? A jumping soccer kick that landed on Riccos face when he was down ? What technique did he atempt there ?

You didn't win the argument. What legal technique was that flying soccer kick supposed to be ?

This is kickboxing not Muay Thai

You obviously never fought and I'm now starting to waste my time. He wanted to follow up the heavy punch he landed on Rico with a jumping kick or knee (he did something similar in the last few seconds of the fight too if you recall). He threw himself in the air for that flying technique even before Rico went down and as Rico was falling down while he was in the air he adjusted his kick lower in order to land instead of a high knee or flying head kick which would have gone over Rico's head. In the space of half a second while you're the air and while your opponent isn't downed yet, those kind of things happen. Deducting a point would have been unnecessary here.

Now keep calling him a "desperate cheater" if you want, you are just being dramatic and it's not changing the outcome of the fight.

Rewatching it looks like he did a scissor knee. Unlucky for Rico. Also scissor kneed him in the balls.

R1 : Rico takes it ( 3 judges to 2)
R2 : Rico takes it (5-0)
R3 : Rico down, loses it 10-8
R4 : Rigters down, Rico 10-8
R5 : Rico takes it (5-0)

Rico remains King. @Poirierfan

Thanks for the breakdown. It's been a busy week. Much appreciated.
