They tried Edwards first ….I don’t think there protecting ChimaevActually I see Burns as the easiest match up for Khamzat on the top of the division,UFC know what they're doing with that one
"Horrible matchup" based on what? I know there's a lot of hype about Khamzat and still some questions about him, but what glaring weakness of his can Burns exploit? Wouldn't Burns also be a horrible match-up for Usman? This is one of the most exciting fights of the year, Burns is a horrible matchup for Khamzat, if Khamzat runs through him, his hype will be the biggest we've seen since Conor
I’m with you for the most part …Welterweight is pretty awful …..Hopefully Shavkat progresses rapidlyI just feel that GIlbert Burns being top 5 shows how weak WW is right now.... He beat the ghosts of Woodley, Maia, and Wonderboy... I know he hit Usman a couple times but really... idk I don't see him as elite in the slightest.
It must just be me... people keep discussing him as a great fighter...
I feel like other than Usman and Covington this is the worst WW has ever been since like the beginning of GSP... All the great fighters are old... and there is almost nobody worth writing about... Besides Khazmat and Lyon of course but that is recent.
I don't see an era where Muhammad, Luque, and Burns are top 5... fringe top 10 at best..
We'll see. I will say this--it will be the closest stylistic matchup to Oliveira vs. Islam or Khabib that we've seen. Not saying you can predict those fights based on Khamzat-Burns, but there are similarities.Burns is the toughest stylistic matchup for an aggressive fighter like Khamzat. He has finishing power in the stand up and on the ground.
I’m not hating …Burns and his family got to eat
Burns said he wanted more money and better contract to take this fight.
He also thinks he will win.
Khamzat gonna make Burns and Ali pay for holding him back this long.
100% agreedHe's putting his ranking and everything he's worked for on the line against a guy who isn't in the top ten. That's something countless guys wouldn't risk in other divisions. He should be paid for stepping up. Good for him.
