Gift Cards? - Christmas Gift Giving

I've come around to hating gift cards less. The "problem" with cash, is that for normal adults, there's the temptation to use it to pay off bills.,
A gift card, while more specific, kinda forces someone to treat themselves.

Gift cards are one of the greatest scams ever perpetrated.

Can't compete with the likes of Diamond Rings or Bottled Water

Lol, my nearest one now is about 2 hours away but the last time (which I've probably only been to Target 5 times since I moved to the US) I went there I forgot I had it and paid normally.

Or drugs, depending on the person obviously.
I've had two minor inheritances and spent them on nice things that will last forever rather than paying anything off.
That said I'm sure it's a welcome gift if you're really struggling to feed your family

Gift card scams are so common these days I wouldn't even waste my time even if the odds of being scammed is small.

If you do buy gift cards make sure you don't purchase them locally as the possibilities increase by a huge margin

Honestly gift cards are kinda perfect. Worst case, if someone doesn’t want it, they can just flip it later. I’ve ended up doing that a few times myself through NOSH when I got cards I wasn’t gonna use. Way better than giving something that just collects dust.

I’m finding it increasingly hard to find things for people. I only have my two brothers, my brothers gf, their two kids, and mom and dad but I really am having a hard time after all these years. Is it safe to just go the gift card route for once?

For once - yes, you're good.
Giving a gift card each and every time may be viewed as lazy by some people, but from time to time it's perfectly good.

Our family decided several years ago to stop exchanging gifts at Christmas time.

Saves a lot of time and money and removes the pressure from trying to find gifts for everyone.

Christmas is much more enjoyable now.

This is my dream but it'll never happen unfortunately.
