Getting rid of Jerks and Trolls.

Good idea. The problem is that so many people around here enjoy insulting others. It gives them pleasure. They can't find other ways to have fun. I mean, they don't realize that you can goof off, be funny, and tease each other without turning into complete dickheads. They go too far and make it very personal. They don't know where to draw the line.
 
The key to get rid of trolls is dont answer back to them in there threads.

Its more of an insult to let the thread drop to the bottom then give them the plessure of you responding to them.
 
Lol, yea, so when people don't agree yet can't make an intelligen arguememnt against, they can just cry "TROLL" and never have to either use their brain OR admit they aren't able to intelligently discuss. .. oh wait, , they're already doing that. . .

I question how a person so thin-skinned makes it through life. .
 
yeah im pretty convinced that none of them participate in any type of Martial Arts training. But they are fun to rip into occasionally. But you're right, they are unnerving most of the time
 
good idea bro, but hard to say that it owuld owrk. Like someone said earlier, some people just like arguing and feeding the trolls. But good idea nonethe less. I know ive put alot of people on my ignore list, cuz i just got fed up with the dumb stuff they post and ignorant ass coments they make!!!

TS- good idea. To bad it wont work. The only way to clean up this site is if the Mods start banning people. But since Sherdogg makes money off advertising, and advertisers look for how many people post/participate, I highly doubt they are gonna ban 25% of the non training shit talking KIDS on here.

Just grow some thicker skin and remember that this is just the internet.

Good idea TS I added a bunch in this thread alone. I would like to have a separate section in Sherdog that we could go into and have an intelligent conversation about MMA with a much lower level of tolerance for stupidity.
 
Damn. A whitebelt. I was really hoping this thread was created by a mod and we may actually be embarking on an era of actually discussing the subject without so much of the typical message board bullshit. Oh well.

I wish there was an option on every post to mark it as trolling. If enough people mark that post as trolling, it gets red flagged to the mods to take a look at. Maybe ten or so.

Sort of like on YouTube, when enough people give a comment a "thumbs down", it gets hidden.

Since 2003 I come on and off to sherdog, I came read something, started name calling to a troll and got in a flame and as a result got banned, I repeated that same route four times and thus I have my 5th screenname.

Now I just accept them for who they are. I do take norice of the names and I try to not take them seriously and do not even bother replying to anything they post.

But I will not ignore them, sometimes it is quite amusing to read something so stupid or sick that you cannot do anything then laugh about it, clear the tears out your eyes, read again and laugh even more.

I rather read all the bullshit then miss out on some really good sick jokes and insults. Some people are so stupid and sick in the head that it is funny as hell.
 
if your not ignoring the fools who post homo video's or talk shit all day, chances are...your one of them.

Unfortunately that isn't good either...as it'll merely postpone trolls for a short time. They would be in a hurry to make worthless posts just to get a different belt, thus being able to make their own threads.

I really wish Sherdog got cleaned up. Too many childish and immature posters.

That's really the reason I don't post (see post count :icon_chee). There are a lot of interesting threads, but they soon degenerate into pissing matches. By the time I'm done reading the thread and get ready to reply, I've lost my appetite to post so to speak.

And the stereotyping here is terrible. I can't blame people for not liking 'whitebelts' or those who don't train though. I'm sure people have just learned from their experience. I don't post often and between the hours I work and the bills to pay, I can't really afford to train, time and money wise. I'm pretty sure though I can intelligently discuss MMA, but there won't be too many here who'd give me the benefit of the doubt.

Oh well, life goes on.

Not sure your idea would work. I, for one, don't believe in the ignore option. I think it is hopeless and most of us regulars will eventual move on and Sherdog might well become a relic and a joke (I sure hope not, though) I have complained to the BIG DOG and others about what has become of this once great site.....but I think they feel helpless too.

(Another theory, I have is that many sherdoggers have adopted the attitude and fighter bashing style of Dana?)

Its probably when it became mainstream.....when it wasnt as popular of a sport nobody was on here.
