Sorry sorry my post was misleading. All that happened is that some private meeting with some far right asshole took place and some AfD people attended. So now the media are using that for fear mongering and outrage.

I do believe that the center and mainstream media are campaining to get it banned. They cannot stand the notion of an anti immigration party becoming mainstream. Now that the AfD has become a force, they are shitting their pants. They just love their migrants too much. I think it s a real thing. They will try to ban it. If it doesn t work they will say " it s so bad it was almost banned". It s just a smearing campaign.

Its panic wrestling because the coalition as a whole is almost polling behind the AfD by itself. They are in the precipice of getting their shit pushed in (not in the way they usually crave) so they are trying to drum up a controversy. Either way, AfD continues to grow and CDU takes wins it.

I am not sure if they are particularly panicking now. Mainstream has always hyperventilated about the AfD. Now they just have an occasion to make a big thing out of an unfortunate meeting. It s true that the AfD has made serious gains recently. But I see all this as a slow moving trend and not some kind of turning point.

Personally I think the AfD is a shitty party but what's even dumber is the left's reaction to it, as is illustrated by the nonsense one can read ITT. But as in France with the FN, the AfD is getting much closer to power. The people are tired of the center left BS.

I do think that like most in Germany you are responding to sensationalism on the AfD. There is a lot of exageration, like this meeting in Potsdam. So some people from the AfD met with some extremist asshole and now they amalgamate said assholes with the AfD. It's obvious to anyone paying attention.

As per Hamburg, i lived 4 years there. I lived around Schulterblatt, which as you may or may not know is a hot spot for 1 May activity. I was part of a crowd that got sprayed water on just for being next to Antifa. I observed a bunch of shit a couple of meters away from me, like huge fires at a crossroads, bottles thrown, hardcore arrests by the anti riot police who blocked the whole area with trucks.
