German cuisine is underrated!

My wife is German I eat like this everyday. I have to press the Spaetzle though when she makes things like Beef Roulanden. yes very underrated. I grew up with home cooking but nothing like she makes. She was raised old school on a farm near Ulm so knows how to make it all. I have like 500 cookies all different waiting for me in the pantry right now. she just loves to cook.

The thing is most Americans seem to go to Southern Germany and associate all German culture with the south (cuisine, clothing, etc).
That couldn't be more uneducated and wrong. The "Prussians" make very underrated cuisine too, and underrated culture.

Haven't been to Hamburg yet but the far north sounds like a cool place to go to.

i like german food, but i dont think its underrated. its rated pretty accurately compared to where it belongs in the scope of cuisines.

Haven't been to Germany in nearly 5 years but the food wasn't one of the highlights of my trip. Might be different these days with the influx of immigrants but the quality of those immigrants is a big deterrent for me now. Shame too because it was a beautiful country with a rich history.

I definitely like Austrian/Bavarian food and drink, was in Vienna a couple of months back.

Definitely has some great stuff. Wouldn't make my Top 5 but maybe Top 10.

It's not, but german girls boobs are, even if they age like shit
Young german boobs ftw

Schnitzel is excellent despite looking average.

They do cotoletta, but wrong

IUsed to go to a bier garden in Virginia, their sausages were great too, used to get the pickled red cabbage and German potato salad. It was mainly the ambience though, it was really quaint and dark so Christmas Eve was really cozy.

Owned by a married couple, first generation immigrants I think. The man, old gentleman everyone called Pop, kept coming to the table giving us samples of different beers based on our last round and reactions (this was years ago now). Food is incredible! I mean deep fried pork and house-made spätzle covered gravy, what's not to love? My picky son loves the schnitzel bites, and my youngest loved the Havarti and spätzle. A bit pricey, especially considering how few of the beers are from the tap, but a favorite. I vow to eat there before the year is out!

Thx TS, now I am going to the Supermarket and buying some Nürnberger Rostbratwürste

This is 3 im Weckla.

three sausages in a roll " , that s the local name for three Nuremberg roast sausages in a roll .

as a Turk I got to admit;

3 im Weckla > Döner Kebab

It's not different. Been to Germany twice in the last few years. It's a comfort food cuisine with a few basic tasty things but overall nothing special. I will say that Germans do have some good pastries in their bakeries though. Again, very much fatty comfort food.

I did have a good kebab in Berlin and some decent Viet, but Germany is nowhere near a culinary giant.

Yes, that's the one! If you're not worried about indoor dining, go in soon. It's so cosy and Christmassy..
I liked their beer list, they did some Chouffes which are my favourite Belgian beers. And yes the food is really good. Loads of different sausage. I'm not too fond of spatzel though, I'm a bit iffy with weird textures. Only had it once in Munich but I wasn't fond.
Awesome you've been to the same restaurant!

One of the best places that I've ever eaten was at a German restaurant in Bangkok of all places. The partner had a massive ham joint and I had a big variety is sausages, mashed potatoes and sauerkraut, washed down with two pints of beer.

I've looked for German restaurants here in the UK, but they're rare, and far from where I live...

Good German food is nice but in my experience theres alot of bad food around there, reminds me of the UK 20-30 years ago.

The exception I spose is baking/confectionery, Germans definitely have a claim for being among the best in the world there IMHO.

If anyone's in Vancouver BC try out Bauhaus. Its been closed since Covid but if it opens up again, its worth it for the schnitzel alone.

It's good.. like seriously good.. i've had a lot of the best that europe has to offer and germany stacks up as a country and as an influence..

I'd probably rather go to germany than italy to experience europe.. germany has some good italian restaurants but italy has few german restaurants..

lol you literally just posted all sausages and then a weird looking sandwich of some nature while saying German Cuisine is underrated. That's hilarious.

the last time i was in germany, 07', i didn't see too much of the muslim influence. i'm assuming a lot has changed in those thirteen years.

Funny you should mention Belgian Beer, I picked this up for my 14 year old to give me for Christmas!
