German cuisine is underrated!

Schnitzel is excellent despite looking average.

I always found schnitzel too dry.

Oh no! O'Connor is my least favorite! I wanted to like them and have tried 7 or 8 of their beers but have always been disappointed. Smartmouth, New Realm, Big Ugly, Back Bay, Rip Rap, Farmhouse, The Garage, Young Veterans, and others rate higher for me. These are all in VB and Norfolk, there are a ton more in Hampton / Newport News.
Oh no!! I was in love with their El Guapo and Great Dismal. And I just loved the brewery itself, used to be down there most weekends and they always put on great Oktoberfest parties. Ended up quite good friends with the tasting room manager and a couple of the girls. Kevin O'Connor's recently been reported by a few girls of sexual misconduct though so gosh knows what's going to happen there, if anything.
Smartmouth yes. They're another I used to love which was walking distance from where I lived as was Coelacanth which had some great beer as well...but no outdoor seating so we'd all end up at O-Connor.
YEah I like Young Veterans too.

They probably have the best bakeries besides the French. Good cold cuts, sandwiches, meats. Not necessarily the best cuisine overall, but it has its moments.

I'm happy it makes you happy, and that you're passionate about it.

For me though, it looks gross and very unhealthy.

Your correct, I usually have to alternate fats and carbs. Some days I eat low fat food which is raw foods and other is low carb foods. It is not easy but necessary for health. Mixing fats and carbs in large portion is a disaster and its worse if its the wrong fats and carbs.

Love it! Make a pretty mean Jagerschnitzel.

Have a few German restaurants in my area I like to frequent.

Ha ha! I was going to mention Coelacanth but didn't wanna butcher the spelling! But honestly, Big Ugly and The Garage in Chesapeake are better beer with great locations. Wasserhund in VB is also great and doubles as a fantastic pizzeria. The Farmhouse (blocks from home) has mediocre beer but maybe the best location

I live in a tourist town in Florida, that has a history of many German visitors. There is or was a direct flight from Germany to here. I've been told that before, that the German restaurants in the area serve delicious foods.

Its been 5+ years since I'v been in Germany I spose but last time I was my feeling was that it was a little like the UK 20 years earlier in that yes there definately was good food around BUT there was a lot of crap as well, especially places were you were more of a captive audience.

The standard of baking though to be fair has always been universality excellent in my experience.

This thread had me thinking bout German food so I made some schweineschnitzel for dinner with a pint of helles. So damn good.
