genuine good guys in mma.

friends-at-el-polllo-loco.jpg

Not a follower of WMMA. Who is she?

I've never met a pro fighter, fucking jealous of you guys
Anyway, from what I hear, GSP is a super chill dude

it definitely helps that UFC/MMA isnt as mainstream as nfl, nba, mlb, etc. try finding stories of friendly conversations with nba stars....it happens but more few and far between.

you're more than likely to run into ufc fighters at big grappling tournaments.

josh barnett- met him twice at two different tournaments, really nice guy, i competed against one of his csw guys and lost by an advantage point. barnett told me he thought it was a tie.

gabe ruediger- he had a student competing at a tournament, really cool guy, a bit quiet but took the time to talk a bit, but had to go corner his student's match.

fabricio werdum- at a bjj tournament, gorging the biggest burrito i've ever seen before in my life, i swear i was more focused on the burrito than him because i was cutting weight all day for it. he was chill and this was right before he signed to strikeforce. he told me the slap on arlovski wasnt intentional but doesnt regret it.

murilo bustamante- im a member of BTT so i see him often. nothing but class and u cant help but to feel the most utmost respect to the founding member of BTT. knows most of the students by name if they come consistently. posted on my fb to say happy birthday.

nam phan- met him recently at a tournament, looked a tad small in person but he was cutting weight for his fight with hioki. invited me to come train at the gym and said "gotta unite my asian brothas" lol ive been planning on going when i have more time.

andy wang- nice guy, seems to finally accept his role as the TUF cult hero.

rampage- met him at a club in HB where it was mostly asian people (surprise surprise...he likes his asian women) most people didnt know him which made it easier to talk to him. he know my coach and some of my teammates which also help me get a preferential treatment, cause i know of some people who had not so great experiences with him. my buddy ran into him at the mall while he was with his wife and asked for a pic, his exact quote was "man im tryna shop with my wife and you comin up in my face for a pic? man gimme dat phone! (yanks his phone and gives it to his wife to take the pic...took the pic and gave his phone back to him and walked away. i saw the pic and my buddy looked terrified!)

allan goes- met him the same day i met fabricio werdum...funny thing he told me he was contemplating a comeback and was in talk with strikeforce. i guess that never happened

Joe Son
Hermes Franca
War Machine
Lee Murray
Krazy Horse
Maiquel Falcao

I kind of understand why he acts like he does on camera but a friend of mine once met him in real life and said that he was like really cool and that they shared a few laughs.

I've made a total dick of myself infront of Carlos Condit not once but twice. I was at the expo last year and was passing by Carloses line and handed him something to sign without actually going through his line, he signed it to be nice and the usher came up and started getting in his ear about how he needs to focus on the line. He looked over at me with that "you fucker" look on his face.

Well later I was with my girlfriends son and we saw Carlos outside the Mandalay pool I went to introduce my girlfriends son to Carlos and when Carlos put his hand out to shake the hand of a ten year old I nervously intercepted his handshake, then we all stood there awkwardly for the next 10 seconds and I said thank you and we split. Some pretty embarassing shit.

Hilarious.
I wonder what you will do the third time you meet him.

Einemo is one of the most likable guys I've ever met. He laughs almost all the time, and it's kind of infectious.

Yeah, both Rua brothers are incredibly nice and are all smiles outside of the ring/cage. When I met them in 2006 their English was pretty weak but they were still obviously genuine, down-to-earth people who appreciated their fans. At ROTR in Hawaii they signed autographs for a long time, posed for photos, etc. Same with Gilbert Melendez. Gilbert even wrote and autographed "Happy Birthday, Jordan Breen" on a sheet of paper and posed for a photo with it for me, before Breen rose to his ivory tower and forgot about the little people.

Lol but dude, Jordan's a high functioning sociopath, there's a reason he's not a fan of any fighter.

Very much so. She's a unique human being. Never thought I'd be her friend, but out of all the fighters I meet and hang out with.... she's takes the "most interesting" cake for sure. And I mean that in a positive light.

Seems like a truly awesome person.

The way she teared up with pride hugging Julianna after she tapped Sarah on the show... you can't fake that stuff.

Goes is cool as hell. Hung out with him for 2 days in Hawaii. I was trying to close the deal on a smoking hot German journalism student who was covering the event for a university project, then Goes swooped in with his "look at me, I'm big in Japan" routine and stole her from me.

always gotta appreciate the "if i cant bang her someone i know should" mentality

I've "met" plenty of fighters at appearances and all but the following guys, I actually know and consider as friends:
Gil
Jake Shields
Josh Thomson
Cung Le
Rumble Johnson
All super cool guys who I've actually hung out with outside of fights and training

After 168, I spotted Miesha, Bryan and Raquel at the club my friends were spinning at and nobody really recognized them (about 4am), so I got to talk to them for a bit and Bryan was also surprisingly nice, I talked to him longer since people soon started to swarm Miesha...lol I offered him to train at my gym if he was ever in the Bay Area

It's an easier mentality to adopt when the "other man" is Allan Goes and he can break any/all of my limbs at will.

I've met Ryan Bader, Rhonda and miesha, Cheal, Cub Swanson, Micheal Chiesa, Matt Hughes, Brendon Schuab, Tyron Woodley, and Robbie Lawler, I may be missing a few, but out of all of them Robbie was by far the coolest, I met him in downtown Seattle and he just chilled and talked for a while.
Also I met Jake Burger at a Starbucks in the airport and I just tried to leave him alone and get a pic real quick, but he stopped and talked with me for a bit and asked me where I was from and stuff. Way cool for having just lost the day before and get booed like he did.
