genuine good guys in mma.

Claude Patrick has taught a few classes at my Gym and was really cool, down to earth and funny.

I also met a few fighters at the 129 fan expo, and Michael Bisping would shoot the shit with anyone and even stayed for an hour outside after the event to sign autographs and take pictures. he jokingly told me to fuck off when I mentioned sherdog

Met Condit. He was a pretty chill dude.

Charuto Verissimo was my BJJ coach and is about as cool and down-to-earth as they come. Trigg is a surprisingly nice guy. Condit too.I trained with Mario Sperry once and he's not only nice but fucking hilarious. He was showing a guard pass that baits the bottom player into a leg lock series, and a student asked, "do you give him any space?," to which Mario replied (at the top of his lungs), "SPACE!? WHY FOR I GIVE HIM SPACE!? I GIVE MY OPPONENT NOTHING... ONLY PAIN!" lulz

To be honest I haven't met many unlikable guys in the sport.

I met Chuck and he was really fucking cool. His hands seemed enormous....
Met Chael and he was one of the nicest guys I have ever met period.
Met Clay Guida, Rich Clementi, Mayhem and Manny Gamburyan (they were all at the same private after party that I met Chuck at) and all were decent guys. Guida and Clementi were really awesome. Clementi sat and bullshitted with me for like an hour. He was a really nice guy. Seemed to just love talking MMA. He made me $1700.00 that night by beating Guillard and just seemed genuinely pumped about the win. His girl really got along with my wife too so they just sat there and talked to us... Mayhem was a bit of a gong show but he was a nice guy nonetheless.

most fighters probably don't feel like they have anything to prove so as long as you are nice to them and treat them normally they seem like they would be good back to you... I have never met one that was a dick anyways.

Met Machida, Hominick and Rory Mac when they came into town a few years back. Way before rorys american psycho phase. All legit nice dudes and took the time to talk with fans and really appreciated fans coming out to see them. Also Serra came to my school many years back before he beat GSP and was hilarious and super talkative with everyone legit nice dude.

most fighters are probably pretty good guys all around. people just dont like fighters for one reason or another, and that leads to them thinking that they are assholes. or, people forget that trash talking is historically a part of combat sports, and they assume that the character that some fighters get in to are who the fighters actually are.

chael sonnen is an example of this "fighter personality", when i really doubt hes like that all the time. self promotion can do wonders for your career

Shogun's a very likable and humble dude, inside and outside the octagon. I've met him in person and he was pure class.

And yeah, Shogun's back, I really hope to see him make one last title run. *crosses fingers*

Yeah, both Rua brothers are incredibly nice and are all smiles outside of the ring/cage. When I met them in 2006 their English was pretty weak but they were still obviously genuine, down-to-earth people who appreciated their fans. At ROTR in Hawaii they signed autographs for a long time, posed for photos, etc. Same with Gilbert Melendez. Gilbert even wrote and autographed "Happy Birthday, Jordan Breen" on a sheet of paper and posed for a photo with it for me, before Breen rose to his ivory tower and forgot about the little people.

met Renan Barao and Urijah Faber. both super nice guys. Urijah seemed a little bit more like a 'celeb,' but was the best version of it, still really cool. also he'd just lost a fight (to barao) so understandable he wasn't 100% about spending all day with fans.

Haha! Nice. Gil seems to be a very cool dude.

I've met Ninja as well.

Met Ilir Latifi and Reza Madadi a while back, both were super nice and stopped and talked with me and my friends for a good 20 minutes.

Actually I also trained alot with peter davis... sparring and grappling regularly got to know him pretty well and yet I never ever knew he was sort of famous with one fc. I only found out a few weeks later when I saw him on a card and I was like wtf. Hes a top bloke too

My dad met her at the grocery store the other week.

Said she was just as friendly and dorky as on TV.

Very much so. She's a unique human being. Never thought I'd be her friend, but out of all the fighters I meet and hang out with.... she's takes the "most interesting" cake for sure. And I mean that in a positive light.

Oh man, I forgot about Ryan Couture. He's nothing but humble and soft-spoken, and always willing to be a help to anyone and everyone that comes into Coutures. A true mensch.

Judging by this thread the majority of mma fighters are good blokes haha maybe has to do with all of us having common interest in the same sport lol

I have had the honor of meeting my hero Wanderlei on 3 seperate occasions now and he's been super cool everytime, took the time to chat and take pictures with all of us.

Saw Chael on the elevator at Mandalay Bay and had a quick conversation with him but his friends were holding the elevator for him so I let him go. But then he saw my girlfriend and I walking by later in the day and he actually got our attention and waved. Pretty cool.
