Generation Kill - Underrated?

What's better, this or Band of Brothers? They've both been on my watchlist forever.
I would say Band of Brothers and also The Pacific are better. Although Generation Kill isn’t far behind and it’s more realistic.

The shit they say in Generation Kill wouldn’t be green lit today.

I stand by my 2019 post. It's fine to watch, but nothing ever really happens especially when compared to Band of Brothers for example.
Because its closely based on real events that arent hero running into gun fire all 5min but even during an invasion a whole lot of downtime, prep time, time to make mistakes, to interact...etc.

The show is more about how the people interact with each other , how they approach their targetsm deal with the stress and the somtimes confusion regarding chain of command inside the marines but also interacting with other branches of military. Its not supposed to be a battlepic. If you arent interested in the characters they portray ok then the show isnt for you buts thats were its focused on and I have to say it does this aspect a lot better than BOB or pacific with their very hero like characters. But these shows have other strenghts. You kinda missed completely the point of the show.

Its like complaining about The Hurt Locker that there arent any tank battles.

Fair enough. You make good points. I guess I went into it with different expectations. I might have to rewatch it.

What is disliked exactly?
What "R" word are we talking about...retard?
Ir changes fast.

It would. Netflix had an f word used on Tires recently, Peacock has a show making fun of fake NPR, Paramount+s The Curse pretty much makes fun of self identified progressives.

That's kind of the point I think. They're elite recon marines being used to drive humvees across a desert. It's about the misallocation of resources and the incompetence of their command.

This right here.

Hurry up and wait, then do something insanely stupid, somehow survive, brass calls it a success, so repeat process and change nothing.

Book actually straight up says how lucky they are during events of show

In further deployments people will be less lucky and guys start losing limbs etc

Maybe read the book its very good.

Funny story from the book. Long after release the author met again with one of the marines (the driver) and he was so fed up with the actors because they had told him that they got PTSD from making the movie. <lmao>

Very funny but for him it was very disrespectful to every veteran who suffers from it, what these entitled brats claimed PTSD is. Pretty sure the lead actor Skarsgard was one of these snowflakes. It killed the show a little for me after knowing what hyper sensitive whiny characters some of the actors are in real life . Hollywood.

But its not a show for everyone I get that.

By the way did guys here know trombley became a politician apperantly?

Comments are killing me lol

It's very closely based on the account of the Rolling Stones reporter who was embedded with the recon Marine unit shown in the series (that includes one IRL member of the team among the actors).

I'm glad they didn't fabricate a bunch of silly crap for an artificially more dramatic story, personally.

+1.

I heard the guy that played Rudy spent a bunch of time with the Recon Marines who were part of the invasion of Iraq to better prepare for his role.
