Gane wants to take a few months off for family reasons

Calm down Sherbros, Cane literally just fought twice in the last couple of months so taking a few months off to heal up before fighting Ngannou is perfectly reasonable. When else would he fight anyways?

UFC 266 in Sept has 2 title fights
UFC 267 in Oct has 2 title fights
UFC 268 in Nov already has a main event and is stacked

UFC 269/270 is where this fight would go down regardless of Canes comments and is months away.

fighters compete twice a year by average...

This post is a joke, right? Last minute?? They offered him June, July, and August. When he himself, said July-August was fine for that big money fight vs Jones.

How is any of that last minute in May? June, ok. The rest is not even close. Get off Ngannou’s nuts, man.

So you’re saying the UFC didn’t even offer him a fight for June-Aug.. Knowing they for sure needed a ME for Aug??

And the UFC just made this interim fight for the fuck of it?? Because Ngannou said.. Yes, I’m an active champ. I will fight Lewis in his back yard, in Aug.

If Ngannou wants to relinquish the belt and fight out his contract. That is well within his rights. Nobody is stopping him from doing any of that..Especially the UFC.

I'm glad Dana's plans backfired. If only he'd given Francis a few more weeks, there would have been a real HW championship bought instead of this interim nonsense. Now he'll have to wait even longer before his HWs are ready to fight.
 
I don't really see a problem with this. He's been active and just won the interim belt.

If months means 8 - 10 months, then yes its a problem.

But if its like 3 - 4 months, very reasonable. And thats what i'd expect from the wording, but you never know. If its a lot longer then we can talk of stripping.

They don’t even allow that kind of shit in reputable orgs anymore. The closest to that you’ll see in a high level org is Invicta’s Phoenix Rising tourneys. Where the winner and second place winner will fight 2- 1 round fights. And a 3rd, 3 round fight in one night. Maximum of 5 rounds, in 1 night.
 
This is why interim titles are so dumb. If Dana gave Gane a number one contender fight then Gane would want the fight ASAP before it slips away. Now that he has the bullshit belt he can wait and enjoy being a fake champ until he's threatened with being stripped

He seems to have wanted to fight in September, which I find credible. I have no issue with champs fighting twice a year, but I get if people want 3 fights a year.

Having said that, it's the UFC's fault here. They want to have their cake and eat it too by controlling belts but not creating contractual requirements to defend because would handcuff them.

And lol ok the guy who hasn't fought in 4 or 5 months is an instant duck. Sure
 
Was gonna say he's been pretty busy of late so he deserves a little rest but then so was Ngannou.

well there fight wouldnt be booked until the later part of the 2021 any way so what the problem. also it like when you have a new born there a lot to take care off which takes some time. also dont knwo maybe his wife after a health problem from child birth she needs to recover from 2
