Tech Gaming Hardware discussion (& Hardware Sales) thread

If CAMM2 becomes standardized for Desktop air cooled CPU heatsinks are going to become massive. We'll possibly even see a motherboard redesign. Moving the ram location from the top right to bottom right so the CPU socket location can be centered more. As a result we'll likely see quad fan sized CPU heatsinks.

It'll be interesting for sure, especially for really clean looks. Not seeing a major use case and much appeal out outside of a very select subset of DIY builders (like 1% of the market). The major test would be AIOs and mini-PCs (which is contingent on someone making a popular one), and that would be 2026 at the earliest.

Air Mini looks nice but it's too short, I have a beefy GPU (PowerColor 7900XTX Red Devil). The 207 looks nice and I remember seeing a vid of it, might consider that one too.

You're an Aussie, aren't you?

Best Buy has the black version on sale for $90.

That's a good deal but yeah I'm in Australia.

I decided to get the H7 (2024) model and have it ordered from local retailer Mwave.

I think you made a mistake, you should have gone with the Huntkey MVP Pro. Look at that beauty.

No. NO GODDAMMIT

Are you for real?
Sort of, they will be about equal to the 7000 series X3D chips.

So no better, no worse.

However a rumour came about recently that they might up the wattage on the 9600X and 9700X so they do beat the 7000 series 3D chips.

The AMD 200W full speed comparison sealed the deal for me. It's 1.5 degrees cooler than the Peerless Assassin.
In the noise normalized test, it's less than a degree.

The Peerless Assassin is $35. You could buy it, throw on some NF-F12's for $50, and still have $65 left to play with.

And the $43 Phantom Spirit Evo (also made by Thermalright) would probably be damn near even with the $150 NHD15G2.

The air's getting a little thin up there, Noctua.

Razer is implementing hardware level cheats on some of their keyboards.
Be careful if you have a Razer keyboard, you might get banned.

Is there any way in Windows 10 to have a second monitor only turn on when you play games in fullscreen?

So the second monitor would show the desktop with your game in the first.

Yeah, but depends on the game. Steam and older games aren't always the best at letting you pick which monitor you're using.

Windows setting size, choose extend display and then orient the two displays how you want.

Wendell from Level1Tech put out a video a couple of days ago talking about Intel having a problem in the data center.
Data centers are looking at up to 50% failure rates on i7 and i9's.

Well, the developers of Warframe just came out and said 80% of their crash reports are for Intel i9's.

Is there a reason you don't want your second monitor on?

Many of us use a second, or even a third, monitor for things like youtube, discord, temperature monitoring, spotify, etc.

Ryzen 7600X is $160 now at MC. There are reports of Best Buy price matching on r/buildapcsales
