Tech Gaming Hardware discussion (& Hardware Sales) thread

I got tired of having to replace an AIO every couple of years. I'm back to air cooling.

They've sold a ton of Hyper 212's. A couple of years ago a Computex, their booth said they've sold over 3 million. And they still make them. I remember paying $17 for one back in Sandy Bridge era, now they're $30+.
If you can pick them up on sale, like the all black version is $25 right now.

Thermalright has taken over that budget cooler category in single and dual tower coolers.

Under $35 for a dual tower Peerless Assassin, and Assassin Spirit single tower for $18. GamersNexus has covered both.

Mine is probably due for replacement surely it's 5 years old now

I'm using the Peerless Assassin SE on a 5800x3D, and my only complaint is the fans. They had a hum/pitch that I didn't like in that 800-1200ish rpm.
There has to be compromises to hit that low of a price point, and they sound like a cheap fan. They offer the same fan that's used on their coolers in packs of 3 that go on sale for $9.
Even though I'm kind of crapping on the fans, they're still more than acceptable for the price point. I picked up mine for under $30 on sale.
I ended up swapping them out for something different.

The Evo looks like it uses a better fan. When I was looking to replace my fans, I looked at the Evo fans. They're $10 a piece, and don't really go on sale. For that price, you can get something proven from a known brand, like the Arctic P12's.
If they go on sale for like $7 a piece, I'll pick up a couple just to test.

They offer some dirt cheap AIO's, like a 360mm for $55, but I don't know if I'd trust them. If a cheap air cooler fails, you replace the fan. If a cheap AIO fails, you could be replacing more than just the cooler. And if you have a CPU that requires a 360mm AIO, that means you have an i7 or something that costs $300+. You have the money for a reputable AIO like the Arctic ones.

Thank you, but I already have what I need. If @GearSolidMetal could make use of a high-end desk fan, I'd be grateful if you paid it forward to him, since he once gave me a $50 Steam gift card.

@KaNesDeath Is there a good place I can sell the fan?

Trump's reelection donations have collected $200+ million so far since the guilty verdicts, and I'll be happy to add to it.

There are plenty of other threads to discuss your politics. There's no need for it in this thread.

Yeah. I quoted his response and replied to it in one of those threads.

Thank you for your concern.

I was going to upgrade my ryzen 7 3700 CPU to a 7800x3d

But looks like I'm just gonna wait for this new shit to come out

Knowing AMD theyll price the 9800X3D near $500. Youll likely be better off just getting the Microcenter bundle deal with the 7800X3D thats $450.

I wouldn't mind paying that much. CPU, mobo and RAM should total to about $1k. Thats about how much I usually spend on an upgrade anyway

@Slobodan I found your new keycap upgrade.

The official Belle Delphine Gamer Girl Bathwater keycap from Ghost. You have a 1 in 5 change of it having real Belle bathwater.

I've decided to wait for the RTX 5090 and whatever AMD's newest X3D processor is. I'm looking forward to playing Cyberpunk with max psycho path tracing, now that they've supposedly fixed everything in the game

Most product managers I've talked have said 5090 will stick to the 2024 launch, but rest of the stack will be pushed into 2026. So you're in luck it looks like.

Tech Jesus taking it to ASUS

I only watched the intro, but LOL at him backhanding the Director of Marketing, "Can we get someone higher up? No offense..."

Translation: I run a tech channel. I have zero interest in talking to a sales bro. Spin alley is down that hall. Go get someone who matters.
