Tech Gaming Hardware discussion (& Hardware Sales) thread

Their own 5800X3D will be around $300 this weekend.
That's a star sale, but at these prices, I would personally definitely opt for the newer 7600X or 7700X. That extra, quickly accessible vertical cache is shining in games, right now, but the 5800X3D enjoys a very slim overall advantage there, if any at all, and it loses in pretty much everything else. Just look at it versus the lower core 7600X. Notice how badly it loses in all of the web browsing benchmarks, for example. I'd trust in the overall superiority of the 7600X long term:

That also gives you access to DDR5 RAM; a PCIe 5.0 slot, but more practically, mainstream-priced motherboards that support 3+ M.2 drives running at PCIe 4.0x4 speeds, and 4 total M.2 drives; more likely the faster 2.5 Gbps internet standard (some up to 10 Gbps); greater power delivery via the front USB port, and generally faster throughputs across the USB suite; typically more robust power delivery, PCB materials, and thermal design. There's also the potential for a future CPU upgrade that actually might make sense both in terms of performance and thrift-- rare as that is.

Maybe the most significant difference is that it isn't clear if this price cut will be permanent. Right now it's showing as a sale, but it's been up for two days, and there's no announcement on an expiration. It's not a digital doorbuster slated for Black Friday, exclusively.

@Madmick question

I just RMA'd my SSD. Waiting for repair update. I had bad experience with Samsung before with one of their phones which was faulty with random freezes and crashes all the time even after factory reset. They obviously tested for 5 minutes and determined nothing is wrong with it and have send it back to me unrepaired, and wouldn't replaced either. Kinda dropped ball on this one should have relentlessly pester them but have let it go and bought new phone.

Now knowing Samsung is very reluctant to replace devices, what are the odds that they could say to me 'oh we checked your SSD and determined that one of the apps known to cause damage was on your SSD therefore warranty is void'? Do they even can use files on the drive as an excuse to void my warranty? Can they legally look into data? What possible things they can say to me and how can I fight them back? Im asking because I had like 2TB of lots of different software and games but everything was installed from reliable sources. Im not gonna let go that SSD, cost me fortune and only had it for just over a year (not few months as I mentiond earlier)

I can't imagine an app would void your warranty. If they try pulling any shit you should threaten to take your experience to Reddit's on multiple subs.

Their cell phone division is different than their phone division so I wouldn’t expect them to have the same policies.

@Madmick im also planning to get 64gb of ram, would u suggest 4x16 or 2x32?

And another question. Whats up with current CPU? I mean thermal paste.

Like I said I bought it good 10 years ago, its probably pretty dried up at this point. Do I need to repaste it? I mean idle temp is at 40 and up to 70 when gaming. Also is there any risk for liquid cooler to breakdown or something.

I mean everything seem to work well at the moment.

Say what you like people but Dell makes solid computers no wonder they are not the cheapest. I think its pretty impressive for a PC to run 10 years with no issues, aside from PSU failure 6 years ago everything else is fine.

If you haven't re-pasted in 10 years, conventional wisdom is that a re-paste is definitely warranted for optimal temps, but those temps are good, anyway, so meh. You definitely could, but you don't have to fix what isn't broken.

Two sticks or four sticks doesn't really matter. The socket's motherboards only support dual channel, so there won't be a meaningful difference.

Thinking about getting the Samsung G7 32" 240hz curved monitor for $549. Hopefully Microcenter has one on display for me to trial on.

You want a monitor that aggressively curved? I would have assumed with your purist CSGO focus you'd eschew any curvature.

It's more obscure, hasn't been reviewed, the manufacturer page just went up in the last month, already went out of stock, and it's far more expensive, but if you're stepping up to a larger monitor size, and you aren't electing the BenQ 2746K for the full brightness ultra low motion blur DyAc technology, then this one has to be the top of the list. First 27" 360Hz monitor ever:

Newegg also out of stock already. Here's its PCPP page:
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MC...70-2560-x-1440-360-hz-monitor-90lm0820-b01370

Otherwise, apart from the BenQ, the Acer Nitro XV273 Xbmiiprzx is the best pure eSports 27" monitor, but you can't find it anywhere, and it's only 1080p, if you're of the mind 1080p is too low res at this size for proper pixel density. Runners-up would be the Dell Alienware AW2720HF, Acer Predator XB273U GXbmiipruzx, HP OMEN X 27, LG 27GN750-B, and Gigabyte M27Q X.

Yeah, hoping they have it on display for me to demo. Not sure if i'd like a curved monitor.

I have a 35 inch that is curved and I love it. Not sure about a 27 inch standard format though. That seems kind of strange to curve

10 years old, what are you using? Like a 2500k or something ? Is it using DDR3 ram still?

I probably wouldn’t upgrade it anymore if you’re trying to game on it.

The Samsung he is looking at is a 32".

He's still on the i7-3960X.

Well you both were right. The 32" curved version felt a bit to small with its curve from my viewing distance. 35" version they had on display appears to be the sweet spot. Display panel covers your direct line of sight.

The Ryzen 5 4500 is down to the price it should have been at launch, $80.
For less than $200, you can be into a 6 core/12 thread cpu, mobo, and 16gb of ram.

It's looking like AMD is going to have swallow their egos a bit with the pricing on Ryzen 7000 aka Zen 4. This is a sign sales aren't going too well against Intel 13th Gen competition.
AMD Ryzen 7000 gets a major price cut on Newegg, Ryzen 9 7950X now at $574

*Edit* Damn, there is a $10 off BFFDAY249 coupon active, too. Revised the above.
Yeah cuts where needed, especially since the non-k 13th gens are coming soon (which means every product line will be $30-40 cheaper + come with a cooler) and all of the popular sub $200

The 4500 was such a weird CPU. Not only was it based on Zen 2 but the cache was so crippled that it basically performed the same as Zen+ (it's not really much faster than an almost 5 year old ryzen 2600 ). $20 more bucks for a 5500 or 12100 is a no brainer for most.

I thought the Ryzen 4000 series was mobile only. TIL something.
