Good time to buy PC parts right now?

For the most part, it's a great time to buy PC parts.

• Ram and SSD prices are constantly hitting record low prices
• AMD cpu's are on par for performance with Intel for less money and more cores - The only Intel processor worth buying now is the i9-9900k, but it's a $500 cpu. If you're still rocking something like an FX-6300 or 8350, it's time to upgrade.
• 1080p 60fps max settings on AAA game graphics cards can be had for under $200
  
• Tariffs have affected the price of Cases and PSU's. Not a lot, but they have increased.

Was debating one for myself for fun but hearing this I may just save and get a PS4 with the money I save.

I have one and the left bumper broke after a year. My brother went through 2 of them (he had the extended warranty though). The new version is due out in November. The old one wasn't worth what they cost. I got trigger locks and put them on my vanilla controller so I have a shorter trigger pull.

That's it. Super easy to install too, just pop those side thingies off, slap the new ones on, and you're in business.

I'm still using an i5 2500k setup from 2011. Only thing I've upgraded is the GPU to a RX470. System still runs all the games I play, but I know something will break soon. If prices are good right now I think it's time to build a new PC.

I have a 1080ti and game at 1440p my question is would I see a benefit of pairing my 3700x with a 5700xt or whatever they're called compared to my current 1080ti? The 20** cards don't really have that much appeal to me as they're still not really much different to my 1080ti except for ray tracing.

Is there any benefit in pairing AMD with AMD instead of AMD with Nvidia?

No. While those cards tend to do better relative to their counterparts as the resolution increases, similar to the Ryzen 3rd Gen processors vs. their Intel counterparts, the 5700 XT's counterparts are the GTX 1080 & RTX 2070, not the GTX 1080 Ti. I think the XFX one looks much better, it's not flashy or anything which is what I prefer.

Prepare the salt because this rumor is a juicy one, but AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su is reportedly looking at leaving the company and joining IBM. Shock horror, right? The latest rumor from WCCFTech is a big one, and something I've heard whispers (but didn't want to believe them) of, too.
According to sources of Usman Pirzada from WCCFTech: "Lisa Su is eyeing the #2 position at IBM with the eventual goal to end up as CEO and President of IBM, replacing Ginni Rometty. The advanced groundwork for this transition has apparently already been laid down as you will read further in this article. While I do not know the exact reasons for why Lisa would choose IBM of all companies to move to, I am told that this is something that she has wanted for a very long time". There is a big launch of AMD's new EPYC Rome CPUs tomorrow and according to Pirzada, Lisa will leave the company after Rome launches in the fall. The post continues suggesting that ex-Synaptics CEO Rick Bergman who recently joined AMD as the new boss of the PC and semi-custom business, could replace Lisa when she exits.

That lady is a true business wunderkind. No affirmative action necessary, no bullshit Jezebel puff pieces required. Right now they're on a course to drive a stake through the heart of Intel with the completion of the Zen roadmap in the next 2-4 years, but without her, there's no telling how well coordinated the foundation for the next architectural generation will be beyond that.

They're on the cusp of gaining the CPU lead, outright, no need to win on value, and that's what will drive profits in the gamer hardware market. With that achieved one would think they might shift focus to the GPU front, and combating NVIDIA, not so much on the discrete gamer GPU market, but towards the future with an eye on parallel processing power and A.I. for the cloud computing gold rush.

The stock has already been hit by the profit report, a few pessimistic Trump tweets, and uncertainty surrounding the trade war with China; down from an all-time high of 34.39 last month. It will only plummet further if the headline drops that Su is leaving.

AMD could probably get by on refining their architecture for a couple of years, but after that who knows. They also have the upcoming next gen of consoles to help with cash flow. I seen a story about Samsung licensing IP from AMD as well.
If she leaves I think they'll be ok for a couple of years, but it could get interesting after that.
It would never happen in a million years, but I wish Intel would buy out Radeon. That team with a nearly unlimited budget could do wondrous things.

The Ryzen 5 3600 at $200 is the best bang for the buck right now. A good B450 mobo can be had for around $100. Intel NVME SSD's are great budget option, $60 for 512gb and $100 for 1Tb. @MadDildo can help point you in the direction for ram.
