Tech Gaming Hardware discussion (& Hardware Sales) thread

Y'all want some RGB slot covers??

Personally hate the unicorn vomit aesthetic, but these look cool if this is what you're into. PC's always been about building it how you want it, so I hope they hit their target market with a quality product.

At $13 a piece, they're a little spendy.

I'm surprised that the connectors are on the outside, but it definitely makes it more clean looking.
Yeah it's not a bad implementation all things considered

Microcenter is gonna sell the 7600X3D for $300 and they added $50 to the price of a 7800X3D. Kinda shady.

Acer 23.8" IPS 1080p 180hz "HDR10" Freesync for $100 ships and sold by Amazon.

I was surprised that you can get all those features into a monitor from a well known brand for $100. If you're looking for a budget monitor, this ticks a lot of boxes.

A lot of big brands are selling at cost or even loss right now, most of the industry is focused on market share atm for whatever reason.

Microcenter had a surplus of inventory for six months after the 7800X3D launch. CPU had scheduler issues with games while AM5 motherboards had their typical ram support problems. AM5 motherboards at that time were also still expensive(200+) and the CPU was priced at $450.

Bundle deal Microcenter began offering in the Fall eventually exhausted this inventory. Why the bundle deal itself has seen a steady $110 price increase over these past nine months.

Beware of fake 7800x3ds out there. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is.

It's like the dude buying the 4090 that's only $1k from some random Chinese seller on Amazon and then complaining on social media about getting ripped off.

The biggest development is the 33.5 TFLOP GPU. That is a massive upgrade, and far greater than I expected. As an RDNA 3.0 GPU that puts it just shy of the RX 7800 XT

Last week(?) AMD admitted to giving up on competing with Nvidia in the GPU market moving forward. At this point AMD's primary customer in the GPU market is console makers.

Looks like you quoted this before I updated that post. It will be shy of the 7800 XT, but per FLOPs, it will be closer (still shy) of the 7700 XT. Until we know more about the total pipelines, that is the new analogue for PC builders matching the PS5 Pro.

AMD exists to force NVIDIA to keep pricing honest for everything below the top GPU. That's fine. We need Intel to stay in that race.

They're giving up on the high end stuff. There's money to be made in the sub $300 market where Nvidia doesn't offer anything other than the 3050.

The margins the lower you go are brutal, it's mostly about getting ISVs on board. And unfortunately it's going to be data center first, and consumer GPU a distant second. Not to mention the gap between iGPU and 3050 is getting narrower and narrowers.

You need to have a talk with @Valhoven. In the past five years he's the only moderator who has deleted posts of mine, temporarily banned me in a topic and or now moved my comment to another thread. All of this revolves around Sony Playstation discussions. He's acting hyper sensitive in such topics. Simply because i dont own a Playstation im not permitted to comment in any topic related to Playstation unless im performing fellatio on the company.

Three things.

First, your post is more appropriate in this thread even if you were replying to my post from the Playstation thread. Because what does AMD conceding they can't produce a gamer GPU to compete with NVIDIA's flagship have to do specifically with the Playstation? Why would you even bring that up when the TFLOPS of the new PS5 is mentioned? I was myself flummoxed as to why you'd think that was relevant. Nobody expects the consoles to pack a $2K GPU in the first place.

Second, Val is an Admin, I am a Mod. There's a pecking order, here. I am not the one to sit him down.

Third, finally, petitioning me openly in this manner, not just outside PMs, but outside Support itself, is just the kind of passive aggressive tactic to guarantee you don't get anything you want. All of us on Staff have dealt with this kind of underhanded snipe at some point, and maybe it won't surprise you that we all find it annoying. We aren't so easily divided.

Is there some outstanding reason why whatever thoughts you're sharing on the latest trends in console hardware must be shared in the Playstation thread rather than here? I can't think of a good reason. So let's just discuss it here.
