Tech Gaming Hardware discussion (& Hardware Sales) thread

Of course they'll be hard to come by, and it's overwhelmingly likely MSRP's will raise again. That doesn't mean the raw performance value curve rises. It tends to go down even if the MSRP rises with a new gen. The new cards depress the cost of previous gen cards, even if only a tiny bit, and the raw processing power per dollar spent improves.
Tell me about it.

I just got myself a Voodoo 3 last week. Once I install it, I will finally have 3D gaming at 60 FPS. And I only paid $100!!

Take that!

I was always so envious of those discrete graphics cards.

This guy wins for biggest home game machine.

Not surprised from you but seems like a pretty good deal since two months ago they where around 1,900 bucks.

Just hard to keep track what with the 7x RTX 3070 or better GPUs you own.

The reason for the price drop? It's Amazon Prime day.

I own two 3070's and one RTX 3060 and RTX 3060ti. In the video posted above he explains that Nvidia dumping GPU's due to a gigantic drop in sales to miners. He said a huge number of GPU's are being sold to get rid of inventory. The sales are across the board but Amazon has their Prime day going on too. My RTX 3060ti still in the box as I finish my simulator shed and build one or two motion simulators. My shed running me around 25,000 dollars already with materials and wiring. Also the servos, drivers, control boards being made and the extruded aluminum parts. I started building it myself in March with digging the foundation to level as close as I could to make a walkway between garage and the shed. Made the beams myself by using ledger board and cutting them using my table saw on an angle. did all the wiring for the lights and currently finishing wiring my outlets including two 240 volt outlets. Got a decent size CNC machine moving in at the beginning of Sept as I put a 500 dollar deposit down.

My CNC machine waiting for it and it weighs 850 lbs.

So my internal SSD (not the one containing my OS) dropped off as being recognized by my computer. My computer wouldn't even assign it a drive letter, and while I could see it in device manager, I coulnd't initialize it. I opened my PC up, and checked the wires, and still no dice. I then opened it up again, took it out, and put it in an external enclosure and connected it via USB. Still no dice.

I've been running a HDD Scan after doing some searches on the internet. It's been running a while, but so far , it's up to 10,430 bad blocks found (and counting). Am I to assume it's toast? It's a Samsung Evo, so a bit disappointed it's conked out on me, I thought they are top of the line dependability, tho it's about 7 or so years old at this point. Any advice?

Make sure you run HDD Scan as admin. If you're still getting errors, it's toast.

It's seven years old, how long were you expecting it to last?

Thank you so much! I will try to figure out how to dispose of it safely. I ran as admin as best as I can tell, given that none of the online solutions I found for the problem seem to work for a drive without an assigned letter (using checkdisk etc), I don't think I have a way to fix it.

I guess 7 years is a long time, but with no moving parts and that it wasn't my OS drive and it saw limited action, I am a little disappointed. My OS drive I scanned too and it was like virtually perfectly clean. I won't be writing a letter to Samsung saying they need better quality products or anything haha.

I do wish Windows kind of had better built in advice. I mean "Cyclical redundancy error" isn't exactly easy to understand, I would prefer some laymans terms. Like "Drive cannot be initialized, possibly due to corrupted / broken data stores Please run X, Y, Z to check".

Cool. It's $1469 today on Amazon. So you spent +$230 to have it three days early.
Oh well an I still got over 500 off. I told people prices where going to come down even more. No use crying over it just feel bad for people who paid over 2,500 hundred for it. Now you can get a good computer an a 1200 watt power supply for it an still be around 2500. Hey I backed up what I said I was going to do. Oh it was actually a 200 dollar cut if I applied for Amazon credit. So I past that because I don't need another credit card.

That's even better for people looking to buy a 3090Ti
