What is your GPU? That's the only critical piece of information we need that will determine which monitors to favor (ex. G-Sync vs. Freesync)

leaning towards the acer 27 from best buy. I looked it up and G sync is what the NVIDIA card needs.

Yes, G-Sync is what you want, but that Acer is actually a Freesync monitor which is "G-Sync compatible". Not the same thing. G-Sync's VRR range is rated for 48Hz-144Hz, but you might Google because sometimes these monitors have issues when using G-Sync. Still, "G-Sync Compatible" or "G-Sync Certified" monitors like this will still probably be your best options on a more frugal budget. Of those, DisplayNinja has curated a list of the best. :

A true native G-Sync monitor's VRR range will start at 1Hz. It's when your fps drops to its lowest that VRR is most important to prevent noticeable tearing. Unfortunately, these monitors usually cost $400 USD or more at 27". Official list below. The "type" column will tell you the level of G-Sync:

Displayninja's has been more complete & up-to-date in the past:

A useful table I made in the past for G-Sync monitors. Prices are US, but you can alter the slider to give you an idea of the landscape of cheaper options because I'm sure they'll be respectively cheaper in Canada, too:

So does anybody have any idea when 3070s and 3080s will actually be in stock to purchase online at MSRP?

micro center ftw.

and i just noticed that my local one has ryzen 5600x/5800x in stock and i'm suddenly debating building a new nerdbox.
Did you try to get one? My girl tried to get one to surprise me for Christmas and there was a line over 100 deep easily and she sent me a video of it.

no. the 5600x went out of stock. they still have 16 5800x in stock, but i just didn't feel like going out. if they also had a 6800xt/3080, i would have went at 1pm and picked up everything for a new system.

although, i am toying with just getting a 5800x and upgrading... and making a new system for it later.

I posted about this possibility that Cryto miners where likely a part of the reason why there are huge shortages of Nvidia GPU's it turns out that Nvidia admitted they sold 175 million dollars of 3080 class GPU's to a Cryto mining group lol that's 250,000 or so 3080's where sold to one group.

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards based on the Ampere GPU architecture launched last month and have been short in supply ever since. Reports coming in from financial analysts suggest that NVIDIA had sold a huge chunk of its gaming Ampere GPUs to miners which might indicate why there's an immense shortage and why we won't see a proper retail supply till 2021.

NVIDIA Sold $175 Million Worth of Ampere GeForce RTX 30 Series Graphics Cards To Miners, Claims Report
According to Financial Analysts at RBC Captial Markets and Barrons, it is estimated that NVIDIA has sold at least $175 Million worth of GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards utilizing its Ampere GPUs directly to miners. NVIDIA reported a very strong 37% year-on-year growth in its gaming segment during its Q3 FY21 earnings report."

Mother fucking miners

Even though they due point out how much Nvidia made this quarter compared to the 175 million total there where a lot of miners still grabbing up 1,000's and 1,000's of GPU's. On a fun side note when miners where not grabbing every GPU made on earth they where grabbing 1,000's of PS5 and Xbox's because they are flush with billions of dollars on bitcoin.

They nail it with one meme

going went the thermaltake core v21. I used to have it before I went mini itx but I gave it to my nephew. Back on micro now though and it seems like the best option. I like cube cases in general. I was just in a rush when I got my current case.
I've watched a few reviews and build videos of this case now and I'm fascinated. It's hard to believe it can fit a gaming rig but it does. I currently have a mid tower that sits beside my TV and I'd love to replace it with something like this.

What are your specs and is cooling an issue? Is it noisy?

rtx 3080, 16gb ram, Ryzen 5 3600. Can’t remember which mobo and psu I have but it’s a full size psu.

the noise might be to much for most but I don’t mind it. I have a friend who can’t stand noise and would hate this case. I added two extra fans to it though. One in the back and one on top above the gpu. Those are adding to the noise and it would be quieter if I set it up with a fan controller or something like that.

I usually play with headphones or my surround sound turned up so I never hear it.

I'm going to think about it, thanks. Nice looking case and the design is pretty cool. Congrats on the 3080 too. Looks like a beast.
