Tech Gaming Hardware discussion (& Hardware Sales) thread

Speed and base speed.

There is a subtle difference between our two chips. Not sure if Ryzen Master has fucked around with mine.
Ah I don't think speed matters in this case, I kept my power plan on Ryzen Balanced (so it would just boost when needed) and for Ryzen Master I kept it to the default OC mode.

For base speed, I'm not sure. If you changed anything in Ryzen Master, maybe it changed the base speed?

I'll fuck around with it when everyone gets off League. I might have pressed something in Ryzen Master and screwed set it. Who knows. lol

I wouldn't worry about it

Personally I'm not a fan of the cable pass through for the right side of the motherboard, it's got a goofy 90 degree angle cover thing. But that's just an aesthetic thing.
The old school metal tabs for holding the rear side panel on a case and lack of pass through grommets at this price point is confusing. The pass through holes in the top left doesn't look like there's a lot of space.
With all that being said, it's one of the best airflow to dollar cases on the market, it's really quiet as well.

I didn't look around at other Australian web sites for case prices. Personally if I was buying just from Mwave I would lean more towards the Cooler Master H500 ARGB at the same price point. The only downside compared to the Pure Base 500DX is that the Cooler Master doesn't come with a front panel USB-C connector.

Thanks man.

I had a look at that Cooler Master case but personally cannot stand the look.

Are you air cooling or watercooling?
This is what I have an it's an absolute beast for air cooling, I use liquid cooling now and it was a bit of a bitch installing a radiator in it tbh. I've got like 2 unopened cases @jefferz recommended me a while back. I just haven't gotten around to picking which one I want to use.

Have you looked at the Lian Li LanCool ll Mesh?
This one looks good

I like the look of this one too, I will decide later in the week probably Thursday.

I have an InWin 303 case which looks awesome but doesn't have good airflow as it's geared towards water cooling.

I've found the Silverstone was great to work with until I tried to install my AIO cooler. You can fit roughly 7 fans in the case I think.
They also make it in white if that's your thing.

I like the look of this one, especially the white version
You can see GN's latest test rolls for CPU & GPU thermals in cases (at stock configuration) in their most recent review which is of the Corsair 4000D Airflow that had me drooling just last month:
Gamers Nexus Review: Corsair 4000D & 4000D Airflow Case Reviews: Thermals, Noise, & Build Quality (Oct-19-2020)

CONCLUSION
Don’t buy the 4000D. The 4000D Airflow, however, is worth consideration. It fits in comfortably with recent airflow-focused cases we’ve reviewed in performance, with the biggest knock against its value being the lack of a full set of fans--it’s an $80 case with two fans that doesn’t vastly outperform the other mesh-fronted cases we’ve recommended in price or performance. We’re of the opinion that cases should include a full set of fans, especially in the sub-$100 range where liquid cooling is less common and it’s entirely plausible that a customer might only use the stock fans. The Lancool 215 is one of the best alternatives that we’ve reviewed recently in terms of that key price to performance ratio: it’s $70, and it outperforms the stock 4000D Airflow by a modest margin.

The 4000D Airflow still performed well, though, and we did start this conclusion by saying it’s worth consideration. The thing that sets it apart strongly from other cases in its price range is its appearance. For anyone shopping around, the Cooler Master TD500 is the closest competitor in this category that we can think of, with a similar white-and-grey color scheme available and equivalent performance to the 4000D Airflow at $90 (currently on sale). NZXT’s $70 H510 also has a crisp color scheme, although the 4000D Airflow definitely outperforms it in thermals. We should clarify that we mean the H510, which is an H500 with a USB C port, not the H510 Elite, which is an aquarium where GPUs go to die.

We’re happy to see Corsair offering more airflow-focused cases like this and the 220T, which we rarely mention but also reviewed positively. We’d be even happier if we didn’t have to think about the non-Airflow version of the case, but there’s certainly a market for it.

Did you guys see the new Corsair 4000D Airflow that launched a few weeks ago? Looks like the new functional king in the sub-$100 space to me. There is also a variant without a window, a non-mesh variant, and apparently a more expensive iCUE variant. I'm only seeing a page for the Standard and Airflow right now.

Fuck me, this thing is sexy. For $80? The Fractal Meshify C just caught a Bugs Bunny metal backhand to the face. It better come back to earth with its pricing. No more of this $100-$110 shit I've been seeing for months.

I'm assuming you already looked this over, since it includes the case you asked about, but in that conclusion they alluded to a recent roundup they did devising a perfect shortlist for you:
Gamers Nexus: Best PC Airflow Cases for 2020 So Far: $60 Budget to $200 High-End (July-17-2020)

Sub-$100 Best Airflow Cases, 2020

Hon. Mentions
$100+ Best Airflow Cases, 2020
*Black color only

Another that disappeared from their rolls that had the top score for both their CPU & GPU thermals at stock when it was reviewed back in 2017, probably since they changed their methodology, or limited how many they show, was the Silverstone RL06. Oh, and I almost forgot about the Fractal Design Meshify S2. This is essentially a mesh variant of the legendary Fractal Design Define R6. In addition to these, I'll bullet the other cases already mentioned including by GN in their review's conclusion for the 4000D Airflow:
*Black color only

I'm probably not making it easier, but I figure you'll spot your heart's desire somewhere in the 18 cases highlighted, here.

^ Thanks for this post, was looking for a case for a new build.... perfect timing.

Apple M1 they claim produces 11 teraflops of performance while using 1/3 the power and producing less then half the heat of any AMD/Intel offering while matching the graphics performance of the latest chips from Nvidia and AMD by integrating 8 cores on chip. It gets better it's built by a first of its kind 5nm process node <-- that's insane and at least a year ahead of anyone else no wonder TSMC is getting slowing taken over by Apple.

The 3600 and 3600X are now $180 and $200 at Microcenter. The 10400 is now $150.

<mma4>
10400 for $150 is a damn good deal. Gaming performance is usually right inbetween the 3600X and 5600X. I love the microcenter near my house, if you refresh the website every morning you can get another 10 to 15% taken off just by buying the same product but open box
