Gamestop Sucks.

I bought a "brand new" octopath traveler from game stop and they had a "used" copy available too for a few dollars less. I figured if I'm paying $60 might as well be new. So when I get home and look at the game it's without plastic and didn't have any insert. It may have never had an insert but opened? I lived too far away to return it...

I'll never buy a new game from them again...

you know that when you go buy clothes, there's a chance someone (or numerous people) else tried it on... right?

i hope this makes some of you freak the fuck out. and this thread indicates that it will...

Yeah, well not the underwear which is sealed in a package

Well, at least I hope not

Do they put the cases on shelves to advertise new games still? Or is that space more toys with big heads now? Isn't that where people are getting games without a seal?

The disk is all that matters, I'm not sure how good modern consoles are at reading scratched disks but that's usually the only thing to worry about with new vs used games.

Fuck GameStop. They've been ripping people off for years. Good riddance.

My favorite memory of that place was went I went into to trade my Wii with a handful of games including newer ones like Skyward Sword not long after it came out, tons of Wii shop games on it and they made me some atrocious offer. Before I could even respond a guy in line behind me said "'l'll double it and I have cash." Needless to say I took the cash. The guy at the register was like, "that's not cool dude." But it was totally fucking cool because I got a decent amount of money and the guy behind me with his kid got a console with a ton of games for a good price
Let me guess they probably offered you 10.00.

The thing is that even with data caps being very realistic for people, games are just becoming too big to really have a sustainable model for those folks. Sure, you get to install the base game off of a disc, but that immediately comes with big day one patches at best, and if you buy it later, you could be in for files as big as the game itself. That is going to inevitably turn folks off with shitty internet, and the industry will probably just cut their losses. They'll base their model off of the majority.

I think Stadia is failing simply because it doesn't offer anything unique, not because of internet issues. It's essentially just another game service app you can get on any console out there. You'd have to be a real die hard Google fanboy to support it, over just getting Steam on PC, or a PS4/Xbone with the gaming services they offer. I have no idea what Google was thinking with that. They seem to be incredibly ignorant about the gaming industry, and will probably suffer some big losses because of it.

Stadia is a bit different than something like Steam or PSN/Xbox Live because all the computing power is done offsite. This would enable someone with a shitty computer to run a high end game at much better resolutions / FPS than they would be able to using the power of their own computer. So you could play Destiny 2 at 60FPS on your fucking phone...that's not something you could do with Xbox Live or PSN alone.

This being said the lag input is going to make this type of service really niche and only effective for certain types of games. Some good videos out there of people hitting the jump button and thier character having ~1 second lag time before they jump. While you can certainly get used to something like that it's not going to be as nice of an experience for games like Destiny 2.

This is true. I saw Giantbombs initial let's play/try of Stadia and the only game that Jeff Gerstmann was able to play sufficiently was that Jazzy Puzzle game. Most puzzle games don't require pinpoint or precise timing so it's good for games like that.

You constantly make comparisons between items that are not sold sealed in a case to items that are sold sealed in a case. What next: You're gonna bring up shoes? Or bicycles? Any game collector will tell you that the condition of the case is also important, not just the disc/cartridge. When every other store sells new video games with the plastic wrap intact and the case unaltered, you have a reasonable expectation for such things when paying full price. Gamestop wants you to pay full price even after taking the plastic wrapping off, taking the game out of the case, and putting a sticker on the case that's very hard to remove without damaging the case. You may be wondering, "Why do you give a fuck? Isn't the disc all that matters?" I give a fuck because I can go to a Walmart that's 5 minutes away and buy the same game for the same price, but UNOPENED. As soon as I was able to find a new copy of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy that was unopened for the same price, I went back to Gamestop and returned their copy. I could tell they weren't completely thrilled about it. This is just one of the many bullshit business practices Gamestop is guilty of.

Maybe it's just my local one but they are all wrapped here and the only copy that isn't plastic wrapped is the last copy which they use the box from the shelf display.

That's why I don't buy underwear that's not in a tamper-evident sealed package. I don't understand how people buy underwear that's just clipped to a hanger.

I think the TV showed that tests on "new" store clothes had traces of feces and vaginal fluid. It turns out women often buy, wear once, then return.

I recently bought a cheap used PS3 disc and finished it with no glitches even though it had a serious scratch.

your previous post(s) indicate you have a problem with more than just underwear.

Lol wtf? Try washing the clothes first before you put them on.

I never try on first. Everyone who does should come to the store early and wash everything before trying on. Good idea.

nice catch-22 you walked yourself right into.

I dunno I feel like every time I’ve bought a new game from them they grabbed a shrink wrapped copy from behind the counter. Maybe the employee just thought you were buying a used copy? I dunno

come to think of it I don’t think I’ve bought a game at GameStop since I was living in a hotel during my move about 18 months ago

I'm always amazed every time I'm reminded this company is still in business.

As relevant as Blockbuster.

Heh I have actually seen this go down between customers in line and employees get upset about. Always wondered why they cared because I’m pretty sure they just get 8 bucks an hour either way
