Gamestop Sucks.

Heh I have actually seen this go down between customers in line and employees get upset about. Always wondered why they cared because I’m pretty sure they just get 8 bucks an hour either way

I've heard Gamestop is pretty hardcore when judging employees, and their ability to push trade ins/pre-owned purchases. Just look at the potential profits. They give you 75 cents for a game and put it on the shelf for $14.99. That's pawn shop thievery(might even be worse), and given how the industry is going, it might be one of the few things keeping those stores alive.

So, they might be getting pissed because their jobs could possibly be on the line.

imagine buying from gamestop at end of 2019 almost 2020.
Imagine? I bought a new PS4 Pro from them last Sunday. They're a retail spot like any other retail spot. They're open and they're there. I have no big beef with them (shit I even worked behind their counter years ago). So why wouldn't I shop there?

A lot of posts in this thread read like they've never worked a day of retail in their life.

I don't recall exactly but I want to say they offered me 75 and the guy in line gave me 150.
I seen the same thing happen. They offer a really low amount and someone in the store offers alot more.

Last time I was in one it looked almost like a toy store lol

It's like a quarter Toys. I still but games there and it's filled with toys and trinkets now. I just enjoy having a physical copy and being able to trade in my old games. You also can buy a game and return it for full price within a week if you don't like it now..

They always have plastic on them if they are new .... at the ones around here anyways . Why would they go through and open all the games .. seems made up

To pass them around for the employees to play the latest games for free then sell it as new? Or maybe when turds buy and return the game citing some minor complaint.

Even their toys are more expensive than elsewhere.

They don't. They only open the display one. So usually 1 or 2 games. When I got Ace Combat 7 it was the last copy in the store and the case was the display case .

Sucks that these stores will probably end up dying. I like buying from stores and I like owning physical copies of games
I'll be moving from console to PC when that time comes, I only buy physical copies of games

I got dead island riptide and decided I didn't want it the next day after finally playing the 1st one. They told me that I had to open it and bring it back the next day. Some weird return policy bullshit because they didn't know if it was stolen. I told em I got it the day prior and have a receipt and a membership. Got told it didn't matter. So I took it and sold it to a buddy for 50. They were gonna have me come back and treat it like a used game.

Sorry, but that sounds like bullshit. If it's not opened or if it has the seal /sticker on it, you should be able to refund that shit in 7 days. In fact, their page says you can return things within 30 days if it isn't opened. Link: https://care.gamestop.com/store-return-policy
I understand that not everyone has a great time shopping there, but people don't need to embellish their experiences until their false.

No embellishment. Had my membership since 06. Still do. I had an employee at the other branch in town said that wasn't right. This was a month later though so what was I gonna do?

Ugh... My apologies then.

One thing I can say honestly about Gamestop, your experience can vary widely depending on who the Store Manager is and how they run their crew. Even when I worked for them, there were certain locations that I would not go to simply because I thought they were dicks.

Regardless of whether I liked them or not, whenever it came down to returns like that I always handled it face-to-face with a receipt in hand. I mean: You have the receipt/proof of purchase, and you're well within their policy. What are they going to say, "No"? If they're off their rocker maybe, but the majority of the times they'll just take care of you because not doing it will mean they have to work/think harder--and none of them are paid enough to do so!

No worries man. That's probably the only bad experience I've had there. I don't go nearly as much because I prefer digital media for my xbox. But I do go with physical copies for the PS4 exclusives.

Does the New 2DS XL come in a box without any tamper-evident stickers? If so, I wonder if they do that since these are normally all kept inside a display case so bad people can't fuck with them.

The last copy of a game is always opened with the disk and inserts in a drawer for some reason. If you heat up the sticker it should peel off easily, but it is annoying that they do this.

I always want to be the first person to open something if I buy it new so I've declined to buy shit that was last copy.

It’s done that way so they have a case on the shelf to show they have the game in stock. If it’s the last copy, then that’s what you get.
