Some recommendations:

Axiom Verse - Metroid style game with great music
Celeste - Puzzle platformer similar to Meat Boy but with a good story and punishing but rewarding gameplay. Top 5 indie GOTY for me.
Cuphead - Another punishig platformer but excellent graphics and gameplay. It's one of the hardest games I've played in years but it has a good learn and get better mechanic that's rewarding.
Guacamelee 1 & 2 - Amazing Metroidvania games with some beat em up combat. One of the best platformers and Metroidvania series out there. Fantastic humor as well.
Hellblade - Just finished this and what an amazing game. It's a hard game to describe but it's a puzzle/hack & slash game with a heavy emphasis on story around a girl suffering from psychosis. Literally one of my most favorite game experiences of all time.
INSIDE - Puzzle platformer with a dark but fascinating story. If you like LIMBO, INSIDE is even better.
The Messenger - Platformer inspired by Ninja Gaiden and Metroidvania. Perfect gameplay and excellent gameplay. My GOTY.
Nex Machina - Arcade-style shooter like Smash TV. If you've played Resogun on PS4, it's similar with the voxel graphics. Addicting gameplay and music.
Resident Evil 2 - Possibly the best RE game ever made. Engaging from beginning to end. A throw back to actual survival horror.
Shovel Knight - I was late to the party on this but it's one of the best 2D platformers I've ever played. Perfect gameplay, good music and charming story and characters. The DLC is good too.
Strider - Criminally underlooked budget title. Strider in a Metroidvania environment. What's not to like?
Watch Dogs 2 - A lot of people didn't like the firs but the 2nd is unique. Lots of gadgets, things to do and a really fun story. Very memorable.

Thanks for the recommendations. I picked up Resident Evil 2 this morning, I couldn't resist. The $39 price is not great but it was enough to hook me in because I remember Resident Evil 2 that I played on console back in the day was the shit and I hear this remake is very well done. Inside is good, as you say its like Limbo. Hellblade is unlike any game I've ever played in terms of presenting the thoughts and fears and paranoia of a protagonist. It is almost singular in its pursuit to put you within the deranged mind of Senua. I tell people this but there is no real way to describe it, you have to play the game to really get it. Senua is one of the most tormented heroes I've ever seen.

Borderlands 2 and Borderlands the pre sequel stacked with all the goodies for less than 7 bucks!

Was gonna say I don't need this shit in my life but there's nothing on my wishlist that seems essential right now

I was meaning to ask you. I remember at one of the Steam sales last year you said you were going to buy Tranny, which btw, is still hilarious to me and I can't see the game without reading it as Tranny. Did Tyranny work out for you, and do you feel its worth its current price point of $14.99? I'm looking at it but is it worth it?

I'd say it's definitely worth $15 bro. It was really solid gameplay wise, and had some really interesting ideas and themes. If you got a spare 45 minutes this is a really outstanding video on Tyranny (Spoilers though, of course)

You decided in under 2 hours that you hated it? Damn. That's a quick judgement. Any particular reason?
Felt like a very limited game. I got through like 1/4 through the upgrade chain in under two hours and it was the only game mode. Also felt like the game was brutal just to be brutal

Word. I'm finishing up Pillars of Eternity 2 right now and I've always liked the "Baldur's Gate" type games. Tyranny seems to fit in there somewhere and I'm probably going to go ahead and get it this sale. Its been on my wishlist for a while. Steam, at least for me, has made video game software lag about a year or two. I generally wait for games to go on sale so I'm playing games that were good a year or two ago at all times. Some games I'll still pay full price, like Doom Eternal, but mostly I like to get a 50 dollar game for about $15 but I lag behind a couple years.

And holy shit I can't wait for Baldur's Gate 3.

Will they continue to add new games for sale, or is it going to be the same games on sale until the sale ends?

I miss the steam sales of 4-5 years ago
I don't. Waking up to find out that the game you wanted was on a flashdeal while you slept sucked. Or buying a game and then the next day it is on flashdeal with better discount.

I believe Valve stated that people spend more with the current form of sales as they don't wait for something to appear as a flashdeal.

Bought Firewatch and Wolfenstein the new order.

LOL

I do the same thing. I buy shit I know I will only play for an hour or will put in backlog for eternity.

I told myself I need to finish two games for everyone one I buy for that reason. I have too much shit that I bought on a whim during these things.

I was actually talking about this a bit today. Valve has a really interesting company culture, that sustains imo largely because Steam is a fucking cash cow, an ATM where their balance is always positive. There’s probably been a team working on HL3 for 12 years but without any pressure to ship.

my Rift S sould be coming in today so I bought a few Games on Stream sale.

So far
Creed
Superhot
Five Night of Freddy VR
Duck Season
Beat Saber
Job SIM
Arizona Rising

Any other VR game that are Must haves?

I just picked up House Flipper on a whim.

I paid $100 for this plus DLC (which has been shitty). Fuck me!

It rarely pays to buy games once they immediately come out, especially on PC. You have to either be a super fan and for the game to not have an expensive season pass/dlc that you know will be on a big sale with the main game within 4-6 months, or know that the game will not come down in price much within 4-8 months (Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft first and second party games, and big Rockstar franchises aren't getting those big price drops).
Despite being a big fan of the franchise, I waited for Just Cause 4 to go on sale and got the game with all of its' dlc for $30 last month. A 6 month wait was worth it, imo.

I am a super fan of the franchise and have been since I was a kid since the first one that's why I pulled the trigger early. I did feel ripped off though. For the same price on console they got a statue and its at least a physical copy.

Usually I will wait for games to come down and almost exclusively buy only games on sale with exceptions for fighting games.

Nabbed dark souls 3 and the witcher.

Should give ample content til wow classic comes out. Also apex season 2 trailer gave me a half chub.

If you keep playing that racing game, you can get $5 off. I grabbed more games:

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Dead Cells
DuckTales Remastered
Hellblade Soundtrack
Jotun
Rayman Legends
Rayman Origins
Shenmue I & II
Sundered
Ultra Street Fighter IV

I hear you, it's difficult to wait for something you're a huge fan of.
