This is what happens when the UFC is desperate to install a champ. The years of keeping Dustin, Justin, and Chandler in the top 5 trying their hardest to get one of them the belt has led to this weird entitlement. I made an argument in another thread about why Hooker should be in front of him too. Also another gamer and exciting fighter, hasn't lost 2 title shots already, actually has more than a 2 win streak going (Justin might remember last having that back in 2020 when he beat Ferguson) and all 3 were tough opponents, and Hooker's last win in his streak was Gamrot, who was the last guy to beat Fiziev before Justin, so it's just plainly a better win even on it's own.

In the hypothetical situation that Arman & Max became completely unavailable, I'd be calling up Hooker and asking if he was good to fight again before ringing Justin. Of course it wouldn't carry the popular appeal and that's why Dana doesn't answer my phone calls for a job, but Justin is just carrying less than Hooker has right now.

he's smart for doing this, as long as they dont give it to armen he's a clear front runner. Taking the max fight was how he lost out on the islam fight. He should learn from that lesson, and do what dustin and charles did, have a title fight fall into his lap off one win.

Idk brother, how is he smart by sitting out? Who said he was next against Islam prior to getting knocked out by Max? He was on a whopping two fight win streak and had already been put to sleep twice in title fights.


Nobody wants to see Gaethje get slept for a fourth time in a title fight… he’s just not championship material. Decisioning a 3 day notice Fiziev isn’t going to get him a title shot.


I think the UFC moves on and does Max vs Paddy for the next title shot if JG doesn’t accept.
