FX's FARGO Discussion Thread

The setup in Ted Danson's office - can that at all be related to extraterrestrial research? That was the standout moment of the episode as the elephant in the room is a UFO took off in the first episode of this series.
 
I just KNEW that was going to happen. Not the very last thing, but the thing that happened right before it, I just had that feeling.


When Hanzee shot Dodd. Just had a feeling. But I was hoping he killed Peggy first, damn shes a moron.
 
Another great episode, but...

Dodd not killing Peggy was a little hard to swallow. Maybe killing a woman is beneath him, but still.

Gonna miss Dodd.
 
He could have used Peggy as leverage, it probably also happened just before Ed drove up. He also may have wanted to savor her death considering what she did to him.

Amazing episode though, Jeffrey Donovan's facial expressions and reactions were comedy gold. Sad to see the character go.
 
I cant handle how good this show is. That might have been my favorite Fargo episode of both seasons. Sweet Jesus.

Leverage for what? He wanted Shep Proudfoot to blow them both away immediately. I don't complain much...or at all about this show, but that scene seemed really far fetched.

I guess it could've just happened before Ed pulled in, but I'll stick with my "killing a pathetic woman is beneath him" theory.

or he wanted to torture her or do sone cruel shit. he seems really misogynistic. Simply killing her quickly probably wouldnt satisfy him.
 
This show has a lot of moments that are unbelievable, but it's good enough otherwise to where I'm willing to suspend my disbelief. It's television; not a true story. Great episode.

There are many potential situations like him not being able to get the drop on Ed, or if someone else came along, she could be a potential hostage or bargaining tool, his simple thought could have been "Just in case". He could also have wanted to save her for torture or a slow satisfying death due to what she did to him. He could have also underestimated her seeing as she was just a girl (like he did his mom), and brushed off what she did to him in a way due to him being taken unaware in a labyrinthine environment she knows with a weapon he would think he basically handed off to her, and what she did to him while he was tied up she could only do because he was tied up. There could be any combination of these thoughts at play as well as it happening shortly before Ed showed up (and a slow tortuous kill would take time and he'd be distracting himself with that when Ed was coming home at any time).

I wouldn't put to much into that. Hanzee not at least crippling the twin was more unbelievable, but the show is all about these odd choices and circumstances coming together to create a greater saga. I mean without Peggy doing what she did in the first episode and Rye seeing that strange light in the sky at the wrong time, none of this would have happened.
 
Was there any reason to make the whole episode about the lunatic couple?

Anyway i hope they don't kill Hatori Hanzee.
 
Just caught up on the last 2 episodes. Holy shit. Wasn't expecting the Bear/Simone thing. The most recent episode was phenomenal, i didn't want it to end. Can't wait for the final 2.

Also, I'm rooting for Ed and Peggy now for some reason. I love the new Peggy.
Gonna miss Dodd tho.

What was all that stuff in Hank's office? I didn't really recognize any of the symbols.
 
First season was great, second one not so much for my taste I don't know what it is but it's not that interesting and I am not that much emotionally invested in story/characters like I was in the first season.

Season 2 is an improvement on season 1 IMO. Which i definitely didn't think would happen.
 
Just noticed the foreshadowing in the phone-booth with the game of hangman on the glass. That's pretty awesome.
 
I think the simplest explanation is the correct one... Dodd didn't kill Peggy right away because he really wanted to take his time with her.

Peggy is the one who captured him, tortured him, humiliated him... all while being a woman.

See, I think Dodd is just a guy who thinks women just need a firm smack once in a while to keep them in order. Like they'll just cower at the sight of him, once he shows his dominance. I don't think he respects women enough to kill them, if that makes any sense.

Notice how when he was tied up, he didn't threaten to kill her, just that he'd show her "the back of his hand".

I don't know. At least it's a scene worth speculation and not outright stupidity.

That episode was phenomenal.
