Francis is right. If he's a independent contract, that means he fights for the UFC, BUT that also means he should be able to box, kickbox, wrestler, get sponsorship deals, etc. If you are plumber contractor, you are obligated to do jobs for the company you work for. But, you can also take jobs on the side or even do other handyman jobs. You aren't exclusive to that company. That would make you...an employee.
If he was an employee, he'd get health insurance, benefits, a 401k, etc. That's the point he's trying to make. If he's a contractor, treat him as such. If you want him as an exclusive talent, he needs to be an employee. I 100% respect Frank in stating the obvious and at least trying to get it done.
