the fact that the UFC let their heavyweight champion leave, when he is a vicious knockout artist, is fucking embarrassing.

ngannou has a career finishing rate of 94%. he's won one fight by decision, everything else was either a KO or a submission. he was only ever beaten by decision.

the dude is likable as hell outside the ring, and an absolute monster inside it. they should've paid him so much money he wouldn't even know what to do with it. he's the promotion's dream fighter, and they fucked it up.

why do so many people care about this shit? Francis is a full grown man, and he did what he thought was best for him and his interest and EVERYONE should STFU about it.
If you are one of those who has a strong opinion on this issue and feel the urgent need to share it with the room, please do as it says below:

This discourse surrounding this is hilarious.

Francis is being pilllored based on the words of Dana and Chatri, two of the most notorious liars in combat sports.

Bruh, I just came to post this. You stole my idea. You must be a smart mofo!

Yeah, this is great but the worst part is when he proves himself right, AGAIN, all these fools will tell you why it was "obvious that IF..... he would get paid" and they were "only saying that..... better way to do it"

...like ANY of these fools could broker a better deal than the "impossible" one Francis is working on.

Look, I'm down for all laughs, sure. Life is better with them. But sometimes the jokes stray into straight detraction, untruth, and hypocrisy. And the laughs based on them are ill-begotten.

A pox upon the ill-begotten!!

Ngannou’s biggest issue is that he doesn’t realize the sport he competes in. Not only is there limited money, but the fans don’t support the fighters. It’s tough to gain traction when the fans are always going to side with ownership over labor(unlike the NBA, for instance).

Dana White is the 2nd most popular figure in UFC history, which is insane. His cult fanbase is only surpassed by Conor’s, which is weird. I can’t imagine Roger Goodell or Jerry Jones being the most popular figures in the NFL lol.

Yeah there's just no way in hell ONE was going to pay him 7 mil a fight.
Ariel's take is 100% on point. They probably weren't. But PFL probably will. Smart men make moves while Sherdoggers make shitposts!

I knew this thread would be about Ngannou lol. Dude thinks he's worth a lot more than he is. He's just not as big of a draw as he thinks he is...

Thank you. People are getting obsessed with this topic in a weird way. It's not interesting. And regardless of what side of the boring and convoluted "negotiations" you're on, it's simply not very interesting.

Look forward to streaming his fights wherever he winds up.

General crabs in a bucket mentality mixed with our pleasure at a public figure's downfall, especially as a result of their own choices.

We all suffer from it but few of us take a moment to analyze what's non-profit to us about it. Being human is to standards as being a teenager is to sanity. Good luck.

That said, I'm on Francis' side easily. I am not the kind to plant a seed and dig it up each day to see if it's growing. The man is brand new and green at this and is willing to learn his lessons and take his bumps, to get where he's going.

What he's asking for is indeed unrealistic. But if he gets anything more than has been done before then it will be called "unprecedented". The cost of being right is often enduring the world saying you're wrong UNTIL..... until they rewrite history to say they always knew you would be right eventually, lol. Human fucking beings - we're really something.

What I find remarkable is Francis' take on everything that has transpired. He smiles and laughs while promoters burn his name and he says very little back about them beyond pointing out their hypocrisy or fixation with him. He seems to have no bitterness towards them when they clearly harbour feelings towards him. Either he's actually a rude asshole or else he offends these guys for a totally different reason. Something based on HIS PARTICULAR view of himself.

I think the guy is just different from how we are and he's simply going to do things his way. We might call it "stupid", "crazy", etc., but I'm sure there were times in the desert where HE had to question if he was crazy to keep following his dream of being the HW champ of the world with zero fight training, and zero access to training, and unclear chances of physical survival in deserts and seas. THAT was crazy and stupid and ill-advised. And it got him his HW championship of the world, lol.

If I were Francis, I'd keep laughing at us limited thinkers and keep smiling at my unwavering intention to build impossible success out of my life chances. That's ALL that got him where he is. If he listened to us, he'd be at a big city in Cameroon, with little education, eking out an existence. We are NOT the ppl to listen to for a guy like Francis!

War THAT mutherfucker. War Francis!

But when someone makes a joke about him, I'll laugh if it's funny. That's the cost of greatness. If he actually succeeds at something, all these laughs will have been fuel to his fire. Burn, baby, burn, and go get your turn!
You can write all the essays you want, bottom line is that he is wasting the last few good years he has left.

The dude is at the least turning 37 is coming off major knee surgery has fought 3 time this decade. Anyone willing to pay him 8mil a fight is probably making a mistake at this point.

This June 2023 he will have only fought 3 times in 48 months think about that.. add in being late 30's major knee surgery were a lot of guys are never the same "shogun" and this dude is trying to cash out not be a trend setter for the entire mma world!

Wake up bro!!

Why would Francis get anywhere close to $8M per fight if he lost the belt? What if he got done like Gane did where there's zero interest in a rematch?

He's not McGregor and he wouldn't be headlining PPV's without a belt on the line. He's foolish to think he should be making anywhere close to that if he were no longer champion but still in the UFC.

I like watching both fighters. Just a shame it seemed to take so long for Jon to have his first HW fight. They might have clashed if he got back earlier. Oh well, the fight game still goes on.

Crazy that some people are bothered about this subject like they're not aware of the thousands of threads about fighter pay.

For once we get to see what the UFC is willing to put on the table vs other organizations when it comes to a HW champ.

Chatri worse than Dana is laughable, that's new to me. People are going crazy or are being paid lol. Never saw anyone talking bad things about Chatri, much on the contrary.

This 100%, especially in an era where they are struggling for superstars.
