where did you hear that Conor gor 20 million for each fight?

He got 23 million for one of the Poirier fights, it was 18m and some change on the back end via his PPV cut. You should be able to Google it, it got disclosed for some reason or another. It's safe to assume that he's had a relatively similar PPV cut/contract since post Mayweather. Morons acting like headliners and champions aren't getting most of their pay in the backend in 2023 are annoying, Chuck Liddell and Couture were making millions off PPV cuts like 10-15 fucking year ago.

Cormier has brought up how much he got paid at times, that after PPV it was a few million a fight and that Jones "definitely got paid more". GSP was getting real pieces of the PPV, Usman and Izzy I believe have mentioned it or others about them. It's how it works at the top. They still don't get paid enough but yeah.

I think you are completely misunderstanding the challenge for Jones to compete at HW. I know it has been a little while since he has fought but you are questioning Jon Jones' skills as a fighter that are unquestionably equal or greater than everyone but maybe one or two people to ever complete in MMA. The only question about Jones' success at HW was if he could overcome the massive size and power advantage against a huge guy like Ngannou. Clearly Ngannou didn't want it and Gane doesn't have those advantages and is no match to Jones' skill.

you asked how it's favorable as if you didn't know the reasons, and then argued with yourself on the reasons lol

Jones can wrestle. Ciryl got taken down by Francis. Jones is also the GOAT at MMA and has never lost, Ciryl has very few professional fights. Jones still has reach.

It's called addressing the counter points to your argument in advance. Many people do this.

What disrespect are you even talking about? He got offered almost everything he wanted. Got two title shots, they let him hold the belt for a year without fighting, and they offered him a ton of money.

The UFC put an interim HW title fight between Gane and Lewis in August when Ngannou wanted to defend in September after fighting in March four or so months ago. After Gane won and the the undisputed title fight was booked, it could be said they set up Ngannou to lose, or at least they'd hope due to the style matchup. That is speculative to be honest.

What isn't speculative, is after Ngannou beat Gane (late fight wrestling gameplan notwithstanding), Dana White got pissed and ran to the back of the venue to avoid putting the belt on Ngannou, and with no legitimate excuse for doing so at all. They didn't strip the belt from Ngannou because the UFC thought they could negotiate him to stay at their price, but as we know that's not the case.

Ngannou was to be the highest paid of any UFC HW ever (which, being UFC HW champion in 2023, I would hope so) but I find it hard to believe they would pay Ngannou the same or more as Brock Lesnar used to makr per fight. My guess is 1 or 1.5 mill per fight flat no show/win, but probably Ngannou didn't like the number and bounced.

I think it's kind of silly to leave the UFC to go do boxing while that's all the rage, but what isn't silly is refusing to let the UFC low-ball you after arguably disrespecting you and probably prefering you weren't even champ due to you just wanting a bigger cut they can definitely give afford to give. He'll always be remembered for standing up to Dana and the UFC for better or for worse, and I respect that compared to all the asskissing other fighters do to Dana begging for more bonus money because they're on a shit contract. It's unprecedented for any major combat sports org to actually let their HW champ walk, but here we are.

Gane without a doubt in my mind will be a much better fighter than he was when he fought Ngannou.

I honestly see him fighting Jake Paul next . He would be the biggest fighter Paul has faced but also the slowest .
I dont think Paul would take this fight and he probably shouldnt. Francis is huge w/ explosive power.

Nobody here would let their HW champion get battered in a boxing ring then crawl back and get paid millions.

Not a single person, anybody claiming they would is telling bare faces lies.

I think Ngannou will still end up with the UFC.

He needs more time to truly be ready to fight. It doesn't really make sense to take any deal until that happens. Better to allow Jones to fight Gane, wait and see what happens and begin the negotiation process again at some point afterwards.

There's nothing any other org can offer him beyond what the UFC has.

His best bet is just to wait, train and heal.

LOL this just proves that Dana White and the UFC are cock suckers. This is when happens when you try to literally own a fighter. FN doesnt need the UFC, and he'll make far mroe than he ever made in a UFC right in the first WHATEVER he does away from them. Lesser fighters have done it. All of this 'hell make less money to fight lesser fightere' - and giving Jones - which doesnt not in any way shape or form deserve a title shot - a shot its just Dana's way of trying to 'erase' Frank from the UFC. He knows if Jones somehow wins itll be the biggerst story no matter what. Lame as fuck.

Ngannou actually escaped a UFC contract to become a free agent near the peak of his value. The madman actually pulled it off.
The peak of his value is in the UFC unfortunately.

His name loses like 99% of it's pop outside of it.

Most people don't know who he is, but at least In the UFC, he can be marketed.

Ngannou actually escaped a UFC contract to become a free agent near the peak of his value. The madman actually pulled it off.

This is the most important aspect of this - no one has done this before. What happens from here with Francis (and Nate to a lesser degree) will be fascinating in terms of what it means for th future of the sport and guys being able to actually leverage their value as individual athletes rather than be lowballed by the UFC.

Whatever happens I got respect for Francis for taking them on and not folding in the face of all the different roadblocks I'm sure they tried to throw at him - I hope he now makes bank and gives a hundred interviews call them out in the process.

Francis can get sponsors.

Yes, but to get sponsors you got to have a platform to promote them on.
Sponsor money outside UFC is not that great as some wants to believe.
Myles Jury made less than 10K from sponsors in his main event fight vs Ben Henderson, back when Bellator had decent views.

And UFC fighter can and have their own sponsors, outside the fight week.

He should go fight Tyson Fury and get 50-100 million

He wouldn't make anything like that though.

Fury's last opponent Chisora got 3.8m guaranteed and a they split the ppv profits with Fury getting 80% and Chisora 20% after the ppv provider gets their half.

The fight only did 300k buys so it's not gonna be the crazy money for Francis if by some miracle he got a fight with Fury with Francis as the B side.

And he aint getting 50 - 100mil for a fight.
MMA fans are weird. Some how leaving UFC will suddenly make mma fighters 10 times as much money.
Yet nobody seem to do that.
MMA fans were always the worst and dumb, this only proves it further
Adio Francisco to never ever land lmao

About fucking time... Sick of this rich diva asking for more money. He should go visit his people in Africa to remind himself what actual poverty is. Could not care less about ever seeing him again, and would take Gane in a rematch anyway
