Ngannou had been calling for that fight years and Jones was AWOL. Even if Ngannou signed back to the UFC there is zero guarantee Jones doesn't retire straight away.

He doesn’t have a fight lined up and can’t get signed. Yes, right now it’s not looking like it was a good gamble to take career wise. I don’t know how one could argue otherwise. He should have had something lined up before turning down a big offer. Jones is irrelevant to that career decision.

You can't negociate anything with anyone else while under UFC contract, or they will sue you to oblivion.

Pretty sure paying him what he’s asking wouldn’t pay off anytime soon since Francis only pulled 350k ppv buys. He has the potential to be a star but he’s never promoted himself so one can’t even count on him being good at that
